Minute Maid Park the home arena of Houston Astros located in Houston , Texas . The stadium was inaugurated on April 7, 2000 and has a seating capacity of 40,950. Harris County-Houston Sports Authority owns the Minute Maid Park , which is also known by its former name, Enron Field. Houston Astros managers faced a public relations nightmare when the energy corporation went bankrupt in the middle of one of the biggest business scandals in American history in 2001. They bought back the naming rights for 30 years from Enron's and re-christened the stadium as "Astros Field". The arena is Houston 's first retractable-roofed stadium that facilitates it to seal from hot or stormy weather. The stadium is recognized for being hitter-friendly down the lines mostly in the left field, where it is only 315 ft. to the Crawford St. Boxes. On the other hand it is much difficult to hit the ball out in center field due to the large hill, sometimes known as Tal's Hill. The tiny size of foul territory does not help pitchers either. In 2004, the Astros launched Wi-Fi throughout the ballpark, allowing fans to use the Internet while attending a game.
