Arrowhead Provincial ParkAugust 12-21, 2002- Page 1 This year we spent ten days of our vacation at Arrowhead Provincial Park near Huntsville, Ontario. Camping is one of those activities that brings a family close together. No TV, no computer games, no showers (just kidding..), back to the basics of life with lots of time to explore, share and generally get into each other's hair. Even though you couldn't be there, we hope the following pictures give you a sense of what it would be like .. camping with the Lenos gang. |

![]() Arrowhead Provincial Park is a 3.5 hour drive from our home on Highway 11 just past Huntsville. |
![]() The Park gets its name from the Broad-Leafed Arrowhead plant that grows in the marshes in this area. |
![]() Upon arriving at our campsite in the East River section of the campground... |
||||
![]() ... we quickly setup camp. Karla and Josiah setup seperate quarters slightly away from the main complex. |
![]() Living in a camper has its advantages ... a little drier when it rains, a few more conveniences |
![]() ... and a beautiful woman inside! |
||||
![]() Karla drew up the work schedule. The duties were rotated each day. First there there was the dreaded dishes. Hey, we forgot the dishwasher at home! |
![]() The other chores included sweeping the floor, an old tarp that we laid out in front of the camper ... |
![]() ... and of course, setting the table. Typically we would start with a large breakfast around 9:30 am, then have a snack in the afternoon and finish with supper in the evening. |
||||
![]() Chopping wood was considered fun. Instead of assigning this as a chore... |
![]() ... it was a challenge to keep the kids away from the axe. |
![]() At night, the fire was the central attraction. It had to be built just right. |
||||
![]() The person with table setting duties was the privileged fire-starter. We enjoyed singing and playing games around the fire at night. |
![]() One of the favourite activities was to create a story where each person in the circle would add a sentence to the story. The creativity and humour generated lots of laughter with Josiah and Derek pioneering in originality. |
![]() And of course, campfires meant yummy food. Marshmallows, spider dogs, popcorn, and s'mores all contributed to replenish the calories burned during the day. |
