What is going on here?

First: We can understand that these scientists are vulnerable to personal attacks against them. They have careers and reputations to protect; families to support; they seek research grants to aid their work; etc. Thus: they could potentially be hurt by dirty politics.

Second: Who could they be afraid of (that would cause them to act this way in order to protect

themselves from "dirty politics" against them)? Isn't it reasonable to conclude that they afraid of some politically powerful group with "something to hide" (something to "cover up") related to the CMH?

Third: The result has been an information vacuum about the CMH that this first complete report seeks to fill.
