Charminar
The symbol of Hyderabad was build in 1591, is surrounded by narrow lanes and busy markets of the old city. It was built, as legend goes, by the fifth king, Muhammed Quli Qutub Shah, in honour of his Hindu wife, Bhagmati, who lived in Chicham village. The city of Hyderabad was originally named, for that reason, Bhagyanagar. Char Minar is illuminated every evening from 7-9 p.m. Clocks fixed on the four sides of the Charminar. These clocks are were fixed on 4th Dec ,1889

Tank Bund
Hyderabad’s most popular promenade dams the Hussain Sagar Lake. It is lined with 33 statues of famous personalities of the state. Recently installed is the monolith of Buddha at the centre of the lake. At the flyover end of the lake is the Buddha Poornima Park – a children’s park equipped with many games and boating opportunities.

Salar Jung Museum
Save time for a leisurely stroll through Salar Jung Museum. This remarkable collection, of which 35,000 pieces are exhibited, was the work of Mir Yusuf Ali Salar Jung III, prime minister to the Nizam, and is a tribute to his varied interests. Other museums are Government Archaeological Museum and Khazana Museum en route to Golconda.

Public Gardens
Originally called the Bagh-e-Aam, comprise well laid-out gardens. They house the imposing State Legislative Assembly building, Jubilee Hall, Jawar Bal Bhawan, Health Museum and the State Archaeological Museum.

Golconda fort
Golconda fort has a splendid evening attraction – the Golconda "son-et-lumiere" or the sound and light show. The summer timings of the show (March-October) are from 7 onwards. The winter timings (Nov-Feb) are from 6.30.
One kilometre from the fort are the resting grounds of the Qutub Shahi dynasty. A cluster of graceful structures, the tombs, are surrounded by well maintained gardens.

Paigah Tombs
Situated at Santoshnagar, belong to the Paigah nobles (tied by blood and marriage to the Nizams) and are about 200 years old. These unique lime and mortar tombs are beautifully carved and have marble inlay work on them.
Thirteen kilometre from downtown is the oldest specimen of Hyderabad’s glory, the Golconda Fort. The Fort was built by the Kakatiyas who ruled from neighbouring Warangal. Under the Qutub Shahi rulers it was expanded and became a formidable citadel. It is known for the use of complex acoustics in architectural design wherein sound signals can be passed from the entry gate to the top of the fort without the use of any modern electrical or electronic equipment.

Osman Sagar
22.5 km. An artificial lake on river Moosi, the stream of which runs through Hyderabad, is an excellent recreation centre with well-laid gardens and a swimming pool.
