Superboy # 61
PLOT
- "Our" Superboy gets in a fight with the Superboy of the Hypertimeline
he was in at the end of the last issue. The other Superboy thinks that
our Superboy is in league with Black Zero, a villain who takes his name
from an ancient Kryptonian clone liberation movement. The Batman of
this reality figures out that our Superboy isn't one of Black Zero's
clones and stops the fight, just as Knock Out burst into the Bat-cave
to start trouble. Unexpectedly, though, our Superboy is sent hurtling
through Hypertime again...
- ...and he ends up in the "Elseworld's Finest" reality, where his counterpart
is "Supergrrrl." He is momentarily held by that reality's Justice Society,
who talk about cloning, Cadmus, and Black Zero, before our Superboy's
Hyperjacket nears critical mass and he is sent into yet another world...
- ...where his counterpart and Knock Out are apparently lovers. This
appears to be the home timeline of the Superboy who died in the JLA
Watchtower last issue. Here, Superboy and Knock Out are allied against
Black Zero. They're attacked by "Stormguards" who bear a striking resemblance
to the Guardian from "our" Superboy's reality, and then Hypertime whisks
Superboy away yet again...
- ...and he is rushed through many different Hypertimelines with many
Superboy variations, including:
- 1. Karkan, Superboy, Lord of the Jungle;
- 2. a Superboy who's a member of the Challengers of the Unknown;
- 3. the Superboy of Kal's world (an Elseworlds tale);
- 4. a Wild West Superboy, apparently a member of the Justice Riders.
- Superboy eventually comes to rest in a field in Kansas and is discovered
by... Jonathan and Martha Kent...
- Here "our" Superboy encounters a pre-Crisis, Earth 1-like Superboy
and his dog, Krypto.
The other Superboy helps our Superboy get rid of his exploding Hyperjacket
and takes our Superboy to the Kent home, where Superboy learns who Clark
Kent really is! Our Superboy bemoans the fact that he'll probably never
find his way home.
- Krypto, meanwhile, has gone to recover part of the Hyperjacket, only
to be captured by Black Zero!
