Superboy # 62

PLOT

  • "Our" Superboy explains to the pre-Crisis, Earth-1-like Superboy (and his parents, Ma and Pa Kent) exactly how he came to be traveling through Hypertime in the first place. After a conversation which hints that the two Superboys could be good friends, they encounter Black Zero and learn that he has abducted Krypto.
  • The two Superboys engage Black Zero, who appears to regret his actions against them. While "our" Superboy deals with Black Zero's Stormguards, Black Zero fires some sort of projectile at the other Superboy, making him vanish in a display of white lightning.
  • "Our" Superboy then confronts Black Zero, who shows off a little with his powers before shooting Superboy with his mysterious projectile, making him vanish too
  • .Superboy awakens in Fortress Cadmus, a mixture of Project Cadmus and Superman's Fortress of Solitude, where he learns Black Zero's origins and his plans
  • Black Zero then shows Superboy the element that powered his original Hyperjacket -- "Hyperium," and learns that this reality's Metron (of the New Gods) "oversees everything here," explaining why Barda thought the Hyperjacket looked like New Genesis technology in issue # 60.
  • A subplot is introduced, showing Knock Out and friends infiltrating Fortress Cadmus, in an attempt to bring it down.
  • Black Zero then shows Superboy his "army" for invading the mainstream DC Earth -- an army of Doomsdays!!
