Dell after 6 months. CPU has ceased to run
at 3.06 GHz, run only at 1.6. Got usual fool
around with BIOS upgrades and requests to
run built in diagnosis. Dell first replaced
heatsink, then motherboard +

right to some extent. If you remove the dust
from the heatsink, you will improve the
cooling. But the basic problem is that the
cooling capacity is too low. You should not
have to remove dust weekly. There should be
excessive heating capac

warranty, but never really used heavily
until i purchased a cooling pad for under
the laptop, it always got so hot i was
afraid to leave it on long...

blowing through the vents w/dust did most
certainly fix the problem for now... i have
just ordered 1gig ram kit, and being an
experienced pc technician, when my ram comes
i will completely clean out the whole laptop
myself.

Raise a support call, but have only had
suggestions of upgradeing BIOS (fair
enough), and upgrading video driver (yer,
right ...).

as yet. Ive only just discovered the more
recent discussions and this site. I havent
tried the blowing air or heatsink/fan
replacement yet. I have been using I8kfanGUI
for some time though to help me get by.

fix? : Without a big clean yet, idle temps
have grown to the high 50s. From observation
and assistance from I8kfanGUI, it appears
power off occurs at about 75 degrees. BUT
DONT LET IT GET TO THAT.

from here, while the laptop is still under

differnt models. They were un effected but a

would slow down ever so often. One day while
using it as a laptop I got the automatic
shutdown problem...of course I thought my HD
crashed or something,

little, but as with everyone else, it still
doesnt bring it back down to normal temps
like when it was new.
