Greetings

The art work in the first two galleries
can only be seen by entering a large drainage
tunnel and walking several hundred feet in the
dark, if you don't have a flashlight, then it comes
out of ground and it is here, just inside the tunnel
and just outside of the tunnel where local artists
paint large works of art. Most people don't get to
see this beautiful expression of creativity, but I've been
down there many times to photograph new work and
decided to publish it as my first web site. The third
gallery contains a particular art form that is a
favorite of mine which is stencil art. The ones I
have photographed have enhanced their objects and
surroundings ,what would otherwise be drab and dirty
comes alive with a touch of art. These artists have
a desire to improve their environment and enhance
what is neglected. Before an artist can paint one
of these murals they usually start with a sketch
that has been culled from many preliminary drawings.
Once a surface has been chosen, a primer coat of
paint is sometimes applied to an unpainted wall
or otherwise unstable surface, this is usually done
several days ahead of time. Next the design is
roughed in using several methods depending on the
artist, then the large areas are filled in. Adding
the details is a two-steps-foward-one-step-back
type of process, for the artist to successfully render one line often
means painting into a completed area, the artist must
then go back and touch up that area. The different stages
of execution must be well planned. Watching the artists
work is like watching performance art because of the
size of these works they must use their entire body
to make one line. It's also very similar
to watching someone doing martial arts, because of the focus
and concentration necessary. I have also include some beginner and
novice work, you decide which is what. If you are still
reading please visit the galleries now, if you left and came
back, I hope you enjoyed seeing these contributions to our
environment by some very generous and talented artists.
