After Silence; Rape and My Journey Back by Nancy Venable Raine This is a memoir written by a woman who was raped by a stranger in her home. Not only is it a narrative of her personal journey towards healing, but she examines society's attitude towards rape and the silence associated with it. This is an excellent book, and I highly recommend it! |

Trust After Trauma by Aphrodite Matsakis, Ph. D. This is a guide to relationships between survivors and those who love them. Dr. Matsakis is a psychotherapist who specializes in PTSD and childhood trauma. Other books by her include I Can't Get Over It, Vietnam Wives, When the Bough Breaks, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a wonderful book, I really recommend it. |

Against Our Will and Femininity by Susan Brownmiller Arguably the most influential book written to date about rape, Against Our Will was first published in 1975. It instantly became a classic and has since been published in more than 16 foreign languages. It's a must read for everyone, not only survivors. |
