Why I hate ….
Mobile
Phone Ringtones.
Picture
the scene, you are sitting on the bus minding your own business, when your peace
& quiet is shattered by the shrill noise of the ‘Star Trek Voyager’
theme tune as played via the limited scale of a mobile telephone. I mean, what
is wrong with these people? For a start they are so full of their own
self-importance that they have to be available 24 hours a day. Secondly they are
so selfish that they feel the need to inflict this noise pollution upon others
as a way of demonstrating their quirkiness & individuality.
I
mean, the standard ringtones that come with these telephones are bad enough, but
to go to the time and effort to make your phone play the Dallas or Sesame Street
theme tunes every time somebody tries to contact them smacks of some deep down
psychological need to be noticed. Perhaps their parents paid more attention to
their siblings while they were growing up, perhaps they were the always the last
to get picked for sports at school, perhaps they are just sad. Which ever it is,
these people need help.

I
am also dismayed by the recent appearance of companies that do nothing else but
provide these musical abominations. Look in any tabloid newspaper, or cheap
television listings magazine and you will find at least 3 such companies
advertising their ‘products’ and proudly making boasts like ‘Voted UK No.1
ringtone & logo website by Just35.com’. Let’s face it, these companies
make their money by pandering to the vanity of morons. I’m reminded of the old
saying ‘a fool and his money are easily parted’ and how wise those old words
are even in the 21st century.
It truly saddens me when these foolish people can get away with
tormenting me with their incessant telephonic noise, yet if I were to lose my
temper & brutally murder these people, it would be me who would go to
prison. |
