      Alphabet |
    | The language spoken in Iceland is Icelandic
! There are several characters in the Icelandic alphabet that do not
exist in the English alphabet.  Amongst these are:
        | | á, é, í, ó, ú, ý - where the ´ changes the sound | | Ð, ð - pronounced eth | | Þ, þ - thorn, sounds like the th in thrust | | Æ, æ - ai, sounds like I in I | | Ö, ö - ou, | | | | | The Icelandic alphabet does not include c,
      q, or z. |

      Names |
    | In Iceland children inherit their fathers first name, as their last
name. Example:  The father's name is Jón,
then his boy will be First Middle Jónsson,
and the daughter First Middle Jónsdóttir. |
