Community Garden
IDEAs community garden was originally designed to be accessible to all
and have the facility for growing vegetables on a small scale for retail locally. Located immediately beside
the Resource Centre, it would provide the opportunity for disabled people,
young people and the community in general, to learn about and enjoy gardening.
So in 1997, with the help from BBC's Beechgrove Garden Hit Squad and band of willing
volunteers, the award winning community garden was established and the
garden won the community corner competition.
Now our gardener maintains the area with help
from IDEAs members, volunteers from local organisations and more recently,
New Deal employees
Over the years the garden has gone from strength to strength and we now have a variety of seating areas, two solar
domes, a beautiful water feature and sensory
garden, and a carved wooden marriage arch - the perfect spot for wedding photos.
The IDEAs Community garden is a beautiful and tranquil spot
to work, relax or browse, or select from our range of bedding and tomato
plants.
