From The Driver And The Guards To The Bagmen Playing Cards, I Would Supervise Them All More Or Less
Skimbleshanks is the Railway cat, and takes his duties very seriously. He's a hard cat to ignore, both with his brisk, businesslike manner, and with his striking orange coat. When it's time for Skimble to go to work (or to entertain people with songs about work), he'll don a smart looking vest. He enjoys a bit of tea, and occasionaly a bit of scotch when he's in the middle of a long ride on the train. The video makes him out to be a Scottish cat, with a thick brogue. He's an older tom, most likely a little older than Munkustrap. Skimbleshanks acts sort of like an uncle to the kittens and is just as protective of them when Grizabella enters the Junk Yard as any of the queens. During the Jellicle Ball, he helped the kittens to build a giant train for his song (which fell apart right in the middle of it - Poor Skimble, he has just about the same ammount of luck when it comes to puting on a performance as Munkustrap does). There's never any mention of a mate for Skimbleshanks in the musical; although, I think that Jellylorum would be just the right queen for him to settle down with.
