PREAMBLE
We,
the Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) students of the University
of St. LaSalle, imploring the aid of Almighty God and invoking
the intercession of St. John Baptist De LaSalle, aware of our
rights, responsibilities and limitations and in accordance
with the Institutional mission statement, bind ourselves to
form and maintain a students' organization that will promote
student welfare and development; develop and maintain
fellowship among its members and with the student
organizations, the administration and society; foster
excellence in education; promote social awareness and
involvement among 'Is members; and strengthen the living out
of good Christian and Filipino values, do ordain and
promulgate this Constitution.
Article
I
NAME, JURISDICTION AND DOMICILE
Sec.
1:

The
name of this organization is IDS.Org or the
Intellectually Diversified Student’s Organization.
|
Sec.
2:
|
IDS.ORG
represents and shall have jurisdiction over the
following:
2.1
All
incoming/majoring IDS sophomores and
2.2
All
junior, senior and graduating IDS
|
Sec.
3:
|
IDS.Org
is located within the University of St. La Salle campus,
Bacolod City, Philippines
|
Article
II
STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES AND POLICIES
A. Principles
Sec.
1:
|
The
majority is sovereign.
All authority and delegation of power come from
them.
|
Sec.
2:
|
Peace,
unity and equality shall guide the organization in
ensuring the welfare and security of its members.
|
Sec.
3:
|
Respect
for individual differences is paramount.
|
Sec.
4:
|
Honesty,
integrity, discipline and efficiency characterize all
activities.
|
Sec.
5:
|
Concern
for and commitment to helping uplift the conditions of
other sectors of society is a key guiding spirit of the
organization.
|
B. Policies
Sec.
1:
|
IDS.Org
is committed to realizing the USLS Mission Statement,
together with the entire La Sallian Community.
|
Sec.
2:
|
IDS.Org
operates in a spirit of respectful collaboration among
its members and with other organization and sectors in
all places and activities, which do not violate USLS
policies.
|
Sec.
3:
|
IDS.Org
shall adopt and implement the policy of consultation and
transparency in all activities.
|
Sec.
4:
|
IDS.Org
shall pursue active participation in community service.
|
Sec.
5:
|
IDS.Org
shall serve as a key means of communication and
information among its members and with the different
sectors in the USLS community.
|
Article III
MEMBERSHIP: RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sec.
1:
|
Membership
in this organization is open to all IDS students of USLS who
subscribe to its vision, principles and policies and promises
to abide by its Constitution and By-Laws as well as fulfill
his/her responsibilities as member.

Sec.
2:
|
An
IDS student who wishes to become a member must formally apply
for membership and pay the required registration fee, either
on a monthly, semestral or annual basis, upon receipt of the
notice of acceptance of his or her membership application from
the organization's duly designated authority.
|
Sec.
3:
|
Upon
acceptance of an application for membership. The President
convenes the other officers to decide on the approval or
denial of the application.
|
Sec.
4:
|
A
registration fee of fifty pesos (P50.00) per semester/payable
in monthly or semestral terms must be paid by each member to
maintain current status.
|
Sec.
5:
|
Rights
of Members:
5.1
Participate
in discussions and deliberations during meetings and
assemblies
5.2
Vote
on all matters brought up for a decision during meetings and
assemblies
5.3
Express
one's opinions and suggestions in a peaceful assembly, not
contrary to school policies
5.4
Privacy
of communication and confidentiality of personal records
5.5
Right
against unreasonable searches and seizures;
5.6
Rights
to due process
5.7
Right
to representation in all administrative and policy making
bodies on matters that affect them
5.8
Right
to develop one's potentials and capabilities to the fullest
and for the good of the organization
5.9
Right
to avail of all the services of the organization without any
discrimination

Sec.
6:
|
Duties
and Responsibilities of Members:
6.1
Adhere
to the vision, principles and policies of the-organization, as
well as abide by and carry out the decisions made by the
General Assembly, in consonance with the organization’s
Constitution;
6.2
Protect
and uphold the unity and integrity of the organization through
their individual expressions and actions and their interaction
with other members as well as other sectors of the USLS
Community;
6.3
Maintain
good moral conduct;
6.4
Full
support of all the organization's activities in terms of
active participation and cooperation;
6.5
Help
create harmonious and productive relationships within and
outside of the organization.

Sec.
7:
|
A
member of good standing in the organization is one who:
7.1
Is
up to date in paying his or her membership fee.
7.2
Has
not violated any provisions set out in this Constitution, as
well as any of the laws, rules and regulations set out in
circular memos and other issuances by this organization and
the University of St. La Salle.
7.3
Has
fully complied with all the duties and responsibilities of
membership.

Sec.
8:
|
Any
member who fails to comply with the requirements set for good
standing shall be asked by the officers, through the
President, to withdraw from the organization, after reasonable
due process.

AMENDMENTS
Sec.
1:
|
Amendments
to this constitution may be affected in any of the
following manner.
1.1
Any member of
the organization may propose amendments.
1.2
Amendments to
this Constitution may be passed by two-thirds of the
majority vote of members present in the General Assembly
called for said purpose.

Duly
reviewed and ratified by the General Assembly called for this
purpose, this 12th day of July, 2001, at the Medical Arts
Hall, Solomon Bldg., University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City.
