Kuala Lumpur is one of the federal territory in Malaysia besides Labuan and Putrajaya. Kuala Lumpur was given by The State Government of Selangor on 1st February 1974 and Labuan was given by The State Government of Sabah on 16th April 1984. Putrajaya was given by The State Government of Selangor on 1st February 2001.

When  Malaya got their independence in 1957, Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. In 1972, Kuala Lumpur was announced as a city. However, Kuala Lumpur is still the state capital of Selangor during that time. On 1st February 1974, Kuala Lumpur was announced as a Federal Territory.
