Campaign: Glivaria By Alexander Nelson This the Glivaria sub-section of the Campaign section. In this sub-section are: +++glivaria main+++ <<<background>>> +++locations and organisations+++ +++malquant's gun runners +++ ng hostiles since 1892. |
Founding: Glivaria civilisation developed from an Imperial supply depot placed on the world during the Great Crusade. It later developed into a significant trade world due its central location in the sector and the warp corridor which exists between it and the Segmentum Solar.
Notable historic events: Glivaria's role in the Horus Heresy and the rebuilding which followed was a prominent one. Increased warp storm activity in the area at that time meant that ships and material were constrained to the Sotraiel corridor to an even greater extent, and thousands of freighters and warships passed through the system. The value of the system, both strategic and financial, has caused it to come under attack on many occasions, the most notable being the reign of Dorgluk the Munificent, the Vackmanigan Incident and the Trapelian Insurgency. Information on each of these is contained in a separate sub-file.
Notable features: The Glivaria orbital facilities rival those of the smaller Adeptus Mechanicus Forge Worlds, with a total permanent population of nearly 43 million, with a further 21 million either residing planetside and commuting to employment in orbit or having part-time residences both in orbit and planetside. The total population (planetside and orbitals) is approximately 8 billion. The planetary government consists of the Imperial Commander who is the leader of the House Urkaehew, also known as the First Family. The aristocratic house was founded by the original depot commander nearly ten millennia ago. He or she is advised by the High Council, which contains representatives of the major industrial and trade guilds, the noble houses and the population block administrators. The current Imperial Commander is Lady Travela Urkaehew the Fourteenth. The seat of government and the administrative and financial centre of the world is the city of Firamez.

Unsubstantiated data / Recent developments: Rumours abound concerning the recent spate of disappearances occurring in the capital city. The Adeptus Arbites have no evidence but suspect heretical cults may be involved. The Adeptus Mechanicus are constructing a large extension to their primary facility in orbit, its purpose remains unknown at this time, however it has been declared unrelated to the disappearances in the capital. Guild Jamarique, a long standing rival of House Urkaehew, has been pushing for the powers of the High Council to be increased to the extent that the First Family would become more of a figurehead than the ruling power that it is today. Whilst this concept has not found favour with the majority it does have some vocal supporters. The fleet of Rogue Trader Malkayev Valoris has recently arrived In the system, returning from its voyage to the rim. Its findings and experiences may be of interest. |
