Connecting Through Worship
* Involvement in Worship: We believe
worship is a event involving many members in different aspects of the service:
readers, greeters, musicians, ushers, and acolytes, just to name a few. Worship
should be an intimate encounter with God that leaves us refreshed and restored.
* Sunday Services at 8:00 and 10:45. Worship services accent the love of
Jesus and are conducted in a traditional but lively manner.
OPEN FOR PRAYER Our
vision is to be a Sanctuary for the City, and to that end our Sanctuary is open
for prayer from 8:00AM to 6:00PM Monday through Friday. By being open for
prayer, we are providing an opportunity for people to spend a few quiet moments
with God in our beautiful sanctuary. Staff members are available to pray
with you or you may wish to simply pray alone.
MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING We firmly believe that the church moves ahead on
its knees. Our monthly prayer meeting is on the second Monday of each month from
7:30PM to 8:30PM. Prayers for members, staff, the school, the church, our
community, and the nation are included in this time with God. Spending an
hour on one's knees in prayer is a renewing experience.
* Advent and Lenten Services: These midweek services are offered at 12:10
and 7:00 PM. The 12:10 time allows people in the downtown community to join us
at lunch time. The worship is reflective in nature.
* Reformation: Traditionally a festival service when we reflect on our
heritage.
* All Saints Day: A service when we remember those who have gone on to
eternal life with God. White carnations are placed on the altar in memory of
loved ones.
* Christmas Eve: A traditional service highlighted by congregational
lighting of candles and the singing of traditional Christmas carols.
* Ash Wednesday, Maunday Thursday, Good Friday: These three services are
special worship opportunities for people to meditate on Christ's passion.
* Tre-ore: This 3 hour service on Good Friday during holy week features
area Pastors and special music as we meditate on the suffering of Jesus.
* Easter Sunday: The sunrise service begins at 7:00 AM with the
replacement of the altar linen. At both the 7:00 and 10:45 service, festival
music in coordinated with the liturgy and text for the day. A breakfast is
served by the youth between services. This is one of the most exciting services
of the church year. Christ is risen.
* Confirmation: An important service in the lives of confirmands who
commit their lives to God as part of the worship service.
* Mothers Day: On this special day we feature children's choirs and
flowers for all mothers.
* Healing Service: A service of teaching, prayer and encouragement for
those in need of healing or thanksgiving. Services are held in the
sanctuary at 12:10 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month.
