Peter Michael Nguyen was born on November 8, 1931 in the poor farming village of Salcininkai, Lithuania (just south of the current capital Vilnius). A natural athlete, he had aspirations of representing his country in the olympics as a track star, however he unfortunately succumbed to polio by the age of eight. A year later, Soviet troops occupied Lithuania and later that year "the national Seimas" proclaimed Lithuania a Soviet Socialist Republic. The new regime destroyed the entire economy, and Peter's father decided to take the entire family to America for a better opportunity. It was only through American education that Peter quickly grasped the fundamentals of physics and thus set out to become a great scientist. By the age of 30, Peter claimed the prestigious position of head professor of physics at Princeton University. He published numerous papers on string theory during the 1960's, culminating into the Nobel Prize for his research on superstring theory in 1969. Having reached manic popularity, Peter suffered traumatic nervous breakdowns which gained much press. In 1976, Peter fled to the Rocky Mountains and now lives as a recluse with his dog Copernicus.
