4-H

What is 4-H?

4-H is the largest youth organization in the world. In Nova Scotia there are close to 2 400 members and 100 clubs. Worldwide, more than 80 countries have 4-h clubs. 4-H is for you if you are 9 -21 yrs of age. In 4-H you will learn more about rural life, you will be a special part of your community, you will have fun with fellow 4-H'ers, and you get to pick from 40 different 4-H projects. the projects range from crafts, outdoorsman, to goat. Later on you will get the chance to apply for national and international conferences and exchanges and get the chance to meet people from across Canada, the US, and Great Britain. The 4-H motto is: "Learn to do by doing".

I have been in 4-H for eight years and starting on my ninth. I have taken the following projects: dairy calf, crafts, foods, sewing, cake decorating, sheep, and computer. This year I am taking dairy calf and self-determined, where I will make a donkey project. These are not the only projects you can take, there are plenty more! I taken part in many activites such as: tug-of-war, woodsmen, Connections Canada, speeches and demos, Provincial Show, Provincial weekend, EBI showcase and of course Chatarama.

If you would like to know more about this sweet organization I reccommend you to visit the Nova Scotia 4-H website.
