Case 7- a case of irregular menses treated with homeopathyHistory: This is a case of a 17 year old girl who had very irregular menstrual cycles. Her cycles were anywhere from 2-4 months.Besides, her menses were also very painful, lasted 8-10 days & she had very bleeding during menses. She was very thin weighing only about 35 kgs. I had known her for about 4 years & knew that her family life had been very disturbed due to the strainful relationship of he parents. In the past I had seen her as a very timid & withdrawn child but was very caring & responsible towards her younger brother. However, after her parents patched up their differences she changed into a very extrovert kind of young girl but the problem of her menses had continued.Examination & treatment: On physical examination she was normal in general although very much underweight. Before starting treatment, I got her investigated to rule out any hormonal deficiencies. All her reports were normal. Results: After starting treatment, her first menstrual cycle was of 1-1/2 months. But this time the pain during menses was much less & she didn't need any pain-relieving tablets. The bleeding was also much less than usual though it still did last 8 days. For the next 3-4 months she got her menses regularly every 1-1/2 months, the pain was almost not there & the bleeding now lasted only 5 days. Later her cycles further shortened to 5 weeks duration. After one year of treatment, she was menstruating regularly every month.s I now decided to reduce the doses of medicines from thrice a day to twice a day & to once a day after a few more weeks.When the cycles were regular even after reducing the dose we deicded to discontinue the medicines.It's been 8 months since stopping treatment & so far the cycles are regular. |
