DiChezzerai Gains California
Electoral College Shifts--Retina Leads, DeLeon Holds On to Second

A statewide poll today confirmed that Nelson DiChezzerai has gained ground in the crucial state of California, surpassing his opponent Satch DeLeon by a razor-thin margin in the state. Tracking polls indicate that DiChezzerai gained 4 points after campaigning in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

"I am most pleased to hear this news," DiChezzerai said during an impromptu press conference at a Nebraska hotel, where he is setting his sights on gaining a share of the critical Great Plains vote. "This is a small step towards an unprecedented victory for my party."

The Electoral College shifted with the news of DeLeon's loss of California. Indigo Retina now leads the electoral college with 206 votes. DeLeon acquired the lead in tracking polls in South Dakota, and thus maintained a lead over DiChezzerai by just 3 votes (171-169).

When asked about this, Satch DeLeon replied, "I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation for all this, probably aliens or something." When asked what he meant by that, Satch DeLeon just winked mysteriously, nudged the reporter with his elbow suggestively, and walked off singing "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves.

No explanation has been given, but when asked to comment, chief of staff Georgio Aftermath at DeLeon Election HQ responded, "The song 'Walking on Sunshine' is an upbeat, snappy tune designed to show that one has to 'feel good'." Aftermath further commented by saying, "I used to think baby you loved me, now baby I'm sure. And I just can't wait till the day that you knock on my door."

When asked to comment on his new lead in the Electoral College, Retina quipped, "Well, I've got a degree from M.I.T., so getting something from the Electoral College isn't too exciting." On a side note, this comment was the last in the series of delightful "Electoral College" puns that the media will put up with before kicking some serious booty.
