Campaign Headlines:
Zeus Grabs Most of New England's Electoral Votes

Zeus jumped onto the electoral college scene over the July 4th holiday by grabbing most of New England's electoral votes. Zeus captured Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachussetts, giving him 24 electoral votes. A modest start, no doubt. Polls show that voters are worried about Zeus' position on such issues as virginal sacrifices, his foreign policy towards his old stomping ground of Greece, and his suggestion to move the U.S. capital to Athens, Georgia.

Even still, his New England holdings give him a stake in the presidential race, and have infuriated several of the other candidates. On the campaign trail in Florida, Satch DeLeon attacked Zeus' marital history, citing several affairs with other goddesses. In response, Zeus spokesgod Poseidon released this statement: "We are aware of Zeus's affairs. He and his wife Hera have discussed this many times over the past several millenia and have dealt with any crisis that has arisen, including his little fling with Marie Antoinette."

Indigo Retina has declined to comment on his loss of Massachussetts and Vermont, 2 former Retina strongholds. Retina still leads the electoral college with 182 votes.

"The Electoral college was beginning to settle," election analyst Drew Porter for the Las Vegas Courier said, "With Zeus' entrance, the College will likely become more unstable once again. It's anyone's guess, even still."

Retina has led in the electoral college for the most time out of the entire campaign. This is mostly due to his large number of Midwestern and Western state holdings. In any case, the vice-presidential pick for the Deity Party is likely to cause even more shifts in the electoral college. That information will likely be announced next week.
