"The Question is the Answer"

How to use focus questions to help plan your research task.

There are many different tools that children can use to help them write their focus questions.  These questions will form the basis for the information they collect.   Emphasize to students that the nature of the task will determine the type of questions they develop.  The following frameworks can be used in a variety of situations.

For more complex question creation strategies try using the Questioning Toolkit on Jamie McKenzie's site. He states that the question is the answer and an important aspect to research. In his book Beyond Technology -Questioning, Research and the Information Literate School (pubFNOpress 2000)  he writes about prime questions WHY ( Why do things happen the way they do?) HOW ( How could things be made better?)  and WHICH ( Which do I select?).
