Clock Tower

There is a historical site near the Town Padang. A clock tower was erected there in 1918. The wooden clock tower has a concrete base. Probably not many of Tawau folks realized that on top of the concrete base is written "Peace 1918".

This clock tower was restored about 2 years ago. A new concrete structure was recently built beside the tower in conjuction with the 100 years Tawau celebration.

"Pasar Gantung"

The "Pasar Gantung" or literally translated - "The Hanging Market" is located in the inner part of the town. It is called "Pasar Gantung" due to the fact that the items sold here are hanged. Here, you can get good bargains for various types of clothings, handicrafts and house decorations which mostly are imported from Indonesia.
