Tawau as Commercial Centre

Tawau has now grown into a commercial town with more and more shops sprouting around Tawau town area itself. Bandar Sabindo is a central shopping hub for Tawau. Supermarkets, bookstores, hardware stores, entertainment outlets, fastfood outlets, boutiques, food stalls and many more can be found here. A new shopping centre named Sabindo Plaza was recently opened in Bandar Sabindo.

Tawau as Business Hub

Banks play major role in the development of Tawau. There are not less than 30 financial institutions in Tawau. Most of the banks are located at Tawau's Fajar Complex and this has made Fajar Complex known as the "Wallstreet of Sabah". This part of the town gets very busy on Saturdays and especially at the end of the month.
