At the intersection of Jebavy Drive and Fountain road in upper Hamlin Township is the now-abandoned Nordhouse Elementary School. What was originally a one-room schoolhouse expanded into a three room superstructure which taught kindergarten through second grade. Hamlin residents, who today would be no less than 30 years age, will remember attending this school and will always be nostalgic for the good ol' days.
Special thanks to Phyllis Seeback for putting up with every rotten kid who ever grew up in Hamlin Township while she taught kindergarten. The memories she gave us in our most impressionable years will be remembered our entire lives. Also, thank you for not holding any of my dad's shenanigans against me. |
This photo of Nordhouse Elementary school is from my Hamlin photo session in January, 2002. I'm standing at Jebavy Drive and Fountain road facing west, toward the entrance of the building. The pine trees have double in height since the school's closing over 20 years ago. |
