1st Jim Haughey Memorial Lecture:
Fighting Fascism then and now

There was a crowd of over 50 in Lurgan Town Hall, now remember this was a Friday night meeting so that's an excellent crowd!

The platform included Peter Bunting, Roy Garland, and Harry Owens. Bunting is a trade union official; Garland is a political commentator and was previously active in the Unionist Party; Harry Owens is an Hispanist, a specialist in Spanish history and culture, and was editor of Bob Doyle's memoirs, Brigadista

Bob and Jack Edwards look on at the speakers.

Speeches by Peter and Roy will be available here. Harry's contribution was very detailed and interesting, but unfortunately for future researchers not written up!

This meeting concluded with a presentation to Bob and Jack, with Manus O'Riordan singing his arrangement of Jim Haughey's poem, Fighter Pilot.
