Yes, the new contest is officially started as of... 3:34 AM (Central time), June 21, 2002. Probably not my best idea what with all of the redecorating and everything but that's okay. So... here we go.
Rules for Entry
1. Fanfic must meet the rules on the F.S.G page. Meaning absolutely no NC-17 fanfiction (if you're going to have sex scenes, make them fade to black) and no homosextuality. And of course the rule about checking your grammar and spelling. Especially since this is a writing contest. Honestly, if you have the means to send me your story through a computer you also have the means to use spell/grammar check. Make an attempt at trying if you want to win.
2. Judges cannot enter stories in the contest, but seeing as how I think I'm the only judge right now... *shrugs* I don't think I have to worry about that.
3. I would prefer that only finished stories are entered. However, if you want to enter a story that isn't finished understand that when it comes time to pick the winners, your story will be judged as is whether it is complete or not.
4. You can enter any type of story (parody, crossover, drama, comedy, mystery, action, poetry, ect.) as long as it pertains to Newsies in some way. Stories don't have to have the original character in them. If you want to submit a story from a lodging house you rpg in or something and it doesn't have any of the original characters, that is fine so long as the story deals with newsboys/girls in some way.
5. Since time is sometimes pressing, the limit of stories you can enter this time is five. I think that's pretty reasonable.
6. If you send in a story for the contest it will also be posted on the fanfic page of the website.

Okay, now that you've read the rules (You have read them, right? Don't make me hurt you) it's time to tell you how to submit entries. That is as long as I haven't scared you off. ^_^ Don't worry, I don't bite. Anyway, if you want to submit some stories now, just copy and paste this to an email, fill in the information, put something along the lines of "Fanfic Contest Entry" in the subject, and send it to dolphins_echo@hotmail.com:

And don't forget to attach your stories, either by sending a link, putting the story in the body of the email (btw, if you do that, DOUBLE SPACE between the paragraphs or the format will get all screwed up and it will be very annoying to read), or attach a word doc. (and again, if you do this, either double space or indent your paragraphs).
Now see? That's not so hard, is it? Anyway, I do not know when the contest will be judged yet, but I'll try to set a date. The categories will depend on the entries but some of them might be: Drama, Action, Comedy, Crossover, Tragedy, Romance, Original Female/Male Character, and so on and so forth. So, start sending the stories in, eh? -_^ Let the games begin!
