Learning Activities

1. A Reading Guide
This guide, which is available on the internet, will provide help for students reading the play. It also provides activities that cover expressive, transactional, and creative writing. The guide provides connections to other subject areas, and has some ideas that are sure to capture students' interest. It also serves as a good companion to completing either of the next two activities.

2. The Concise Midsummer Night's Dream
Students will rewrite the classic into modern language for performance. Again, the play can be split into groups. Students will need to capture the main activities and important dialogue, and will need to consider appropriate costume and setting for their work. This should be fun!

3. The Midsummer Night's News
This activity will entail splitting students into groups to produce five editions of a newspaper that coincide with the five acts. Students will learn about different styles of writing and representing in preparation for publication.
