Since 1995, Nora Roberts has delighted readers with her writings as J.D. Robb, which is a spin on Roberts and the initials of her two sons, Jason and Daniel. Categorized by the publisher as Romantic Suspense, the "Death" series is classic Roberts. Set in the future, 2058, [a very realistic and believable future], Roberts introduces us to Eve Dallas. Eve is a New York police lieutenant fighting crime and trying to survive her life. Through the series, we learn to love Eve and all her crazy friends. I've read all the books so far and loved them. Nora Roberts has even confessed to loving the characters, Eve and Rourke, the best. [grin]
For those readers who are a little squeamish, you may want to have a friend preview the books for you--there are murders and although Roberts is not graphic you may not like it. Also there are some series issues brought up in the series: incest, drugs, and satanism. But please don't be thrown off by this, Nora Roberts is great and at least read the first book and you too will be hooked by Eve Dallas and her life.
I think I should first give you a little background on the heroine, Eve Dallas. Eve has been on the New York Police and Security Dept. for ten years. Her life revolves around her work for several reasons. The first, she loves it and she cares. The second, it allows her to forget her past, that she doesn't really remember. You see she was found as a child beaten, abused and unable to remember who she was. Overcoming this she built herself from scratch and deals with the scary and upsetting flashbacks/nightmares.
