Some extracts from 'Fanfare', the Robson and Jerome newsletter.
A fan sent in some questions for Jerome to answer, they are as follows:-
Q: Were you well behaved when you were at school?
A: Not always....but I never had a fight - still haven't. I was fairly mischievous, always looking for ways of avoiding work, unless I got on well with the teacher. I was very committed to sport and to my friends.
Q: What were your best & worst subjects, and what were your exam results like when you left?
A: Best...probably biology, worst definately chemistry - still can't even spell it! I left school with 5 "O" levels, all grade C.
Q: What part did you play in 'The Crucible' while you were at school?
A: I was all set to play Giles Corey but at the last minute the person playing the part of Proctor was asked to join the National Youth Theatre tour so yours truly stepped in...herioc, eh?
Q: Did you do any part-time or Saturday jobs?
A: I painted outside of houses...and broke a lot of windows! Also worked behind the bar in our wonderful local pub.
Q: What kind of clothes do you feel good in? Have you changed your style of dress since becoming a star?
A: I don't like dressing smart but I guess I look less like a hippy since I've been earning some money! I like casual, comfortable clothes - loose necks, no collars, jeans. Favourite colours are blue and green ( As we speak I am actually decorating my kitchen in blue and green).
Q: What's on your tattoo and is it real?
A: The tattoo says 'Nancy', so what do you think?
Q: What's on your necklace?
A: It's a real shame, I've just lost that necklace. It was given to me by a women who was a Maori healer who was working with Soldier, Soldier crew while we were in New Zealand. It was made of Maori green stone.
Q: Why are your leaving "Soldier, Soldier".?
A: There are lots of reasons. It' no longer a challenge....I want to do something that stretches me a bit more....something different. Actually, I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did; I was going to leave after each series but was tempted back every time by the prospect of going to another country and by the thought of working with Robson - you could guarantee that we'd have a lot of fun.
During that edition of "Fanfare", Jerome also wrote a personal note ( in his own hand-writing) this is what he said:-Hi Everyone, I've never written to fans en masse before so this is quite strange. New York is big, very big and I can't see the sky much!! Which I don't like at all, being a country boy, it tends to disconnect me. Having said that I'm filming a pop video with Robson Green and having a very exciting time in the process. Had a great day yesterday filming " Up on the roof" mainly cause we were up on the roof funnily enough which meant I got to see lots of sky. The Hotel's great as well but mustn't brag. So, miss you and wish you were here! I hope the videos come out ok and you enjoy them. All my undying love, Jerome x.
