Recipes
One thing you've seen a lot of here, besides
Dragons is a call for various oils ands incense blends. One of the easiest ways to
create anointing oils today is to blend together various types of essential
oils. Now many people are going to tell you that if you are going to use
essential oils, you *must* use genuine essential oils and not synthetic.
Just between you, me and the keyboard, that's a load of hooey!
Until some one shows me an essential oil (or
anything else for that matter) that is made from something not found on the
Periodic Table of Elements, you are looking at something made from natural
ingredients! The only difference is the level of processing it went
through before it found it's way into your eager hands. Synthetic
essentials are easier to find and are much less expensive (a boon for someone on
a limited budget). The only thing I would caution against is using
synthetics in things like incense because many can smell *totally* different
when they are burned.
Oh, one more thing: Never
Drink any of the potions listed here! In fact, never
drink any potion unless you know for certain it is safe to do so!!

J'Karrah's General
"All-Purpose" Oil:
I use this one a *lot* and for just about
everything from offerings to the Gods, to consecrating tools, to protection and
healing spells:
Take a 1 ounce bottle and fill it a little less
than half way with
cinnamon oil.
Add: a some bay leaf, lemon peel, dill, sage,
and mint leaves
Add: small piece of quartz, amethyst, fluorite
and a small iron or steel nail
(try a small nail from a picture mounting
kit)
Top off the bottle with equal parts apple oil
and vanilla (oil or extract) and seal
Paint on the outside of the bottle:
Ansuz Kenaz Hagall
Charge each
component
according to its magical uses as listed on the following pages:
Herbs Crystals
Metals
Using either the Empowerment
Chant or one of you own.

Protection Potion
This Protection
Potion can be found in the book Spellcraft:
A Primer for the Young Magician It may seem a bit simple, but it is
still very effective. Which is an important thing to remember: magic doesn't
have to be hard or complex to work. Often times the simpler a spell the
better it works!
Equal amounts of:
Frankincense & myrrh
A little cinnamon
One or two bay leaves broken into pieces

Peace Oil
This one made it into my friend's book to go
along with the Anger Calming Spell
1 dram olive oil as a base
10 drops lavender oil
10 drops rose oil
1 small piece of rose quartz
Mix during on a Friday night during the waxing
moon if possible, and chant 9 times:
Gentle fragrance of fruit and
flower
I call upon your gentle power
Bring to all a sense of peace
So that strife may quickly
cease |

This Friendship Potion
can be found in the book
Spellcraft: A Primer for the
Young Magician
1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. lemon peel or
orange peel, 1/2 vanilla bean
Put all ingredients into a ceramic cup (like a
large coffee cup) and pour in a cup of hot water like you were making tea.
Let it sit for a day or so, then strain and place the resulting potion into a
nice bottle and store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Friendship Oil
This is a little more complex. It was
designed for the Companion Dragon ritual and
also wound up in my friend's love spell book as an aid to re-establishing
contact with distant loved ones:
1 dram of almond oil as a base
10 drops geranium oil
10 drops vanilla
10 Drops ylang ylang oil
2 whole cloves
1 small piece of turquoise
Empower by chanting 7 times:
Friendships new and friendships
old,
friendships true and
friendships bold
More precious now than gold or
gem
May friendships never see an
end!
(you can use this you charge the friendship
potion listed above as well if you want) |

In the Reading section I listed one of the best
books I know of for recipes and such: The
Complete Book of Incense, Oils and Brews, by
Scott Cunningham In his recipes he uses only
genuine essential oils mixed with a "neutral" base oil, like almond
oil. Since he uses genuine essentials, less of each is required, but for
some essentials, the cost can be very high (I've paid more than $30 for less
than half an ounce for certain oils). But don't let that stop you from
experimenting.
Some of my favorite examples are:
|
|
Temple Oil:
4 drops Frankincense
2 drops Rosemary
1drops Bay
1 drops Sandalwood
(makes a nice consecration oil) |
Citrus Purification Oil
3 drops Orange
2 drops Lemongrass
2 drops lemon
1 drop Lime
(makes a nice consecration oil) |
|
Healing Oil
4 drops Rosemary
2 drops Juniper
1 drop Sandalwood
|
Protection Oil
4 drops Basil
3 drops Geranium
1 drop Vetivert
