Two Main Reasons for Telling Stories©

Experts believe that we tell stories for two main reasons: to entertain and to instruct.

This book will help us attain these goals. We will only focus on tales, fables, and anecdotes. Contemporary type of stories is not our concern in this book; they are not perfectly suited to our purpose.

Storytelling is an important ingredient of our social dynamics. The last time you met an old friend, what took most of your time? Isn’t it exchanging stories about each other’s lives or even reminiscing stories about old times? Any group discusses facts and ideas only up to some extent. Interaction between persons eventually jumps to deeper and more personal interaction. Storytelling is the verbal equivalent of breaking bread. Only after exchanging stories and anecdotes with a person do we consider him or her as a friend.
