When most people think of astrology, they tend to dismiss it as stupid, or a waste of time. Although it isn't something I live by, I find it interesting to check horoscopes and compatibilty just for fun.

Aries
March 21 - April 20

Aries the Ram is the first of the zodiac signs, and one of the most positive. They are forward-looking and not discouraged by temporary setbacks and are very strong people. Their minds are quick and active and they are very imaginative and inventive people. Arians get along with all types of people and like to be challenged. Their approach to life is youthful and optimistic, and they always seem to remain young at any age.

Sometimes, however, people born under this sign lack tact and can be inconsiderate of others. They can also be stubborn and difficult, and when things don't get done as quickly as they would like they get irritable or nervous. Arians are gifted with enormous energy and passion for life. They hate constraint, apathy and boredom and love to test limits.

Taurus
April 21 - May 20

Taurus the Bull is the second of the zodiac signs and is known for stubbornness, concentration, tenacity, perseverance and dependability. These people are honest, thorough and deliberate and do not approve of taking short-cuts. They are cautious and do not believe in taking unnecessary risks and always weigh the pros and cons before taking any action. They are often very successful people. They love tastes, sounds, colours, and sounds and anything sensual, as well as comfortable living and aesthetic pleasures.

When a Taurean's mind is set on something, they don't often change it. They don't like to be told what to do, hate being wrong or contradicted and are often suspicious of others, even close friends. They seldom forgive and forget and their love for material things make them rather avaricious and petty.

Gemini
May 21 - June 21

Gemini the Twins is the third of the zodiac signs. People born under this sign are usually bright and quick-witted and are very open-minded. Geminis are very analytical and are governed more by their minds than their feelings. They can see a problem from many different angles and are very good at using their keen intellect and reason to come up with decisions quickly. They like change and variety and abhor boredom and constraint.

Sometimes they try to do too many things at once and end up finishing nothing. Some are very easily distracted and find it difficult to concentrate, and some find it boring to commit to one thing. Geminis tend to be sharp-tongued and inconsiderate at times, thinking only of themselves and their own situations. Although they may seem confident on the outside, sometimes this is a mask for their hidden insecurities and loneliness.

Cancer
June 22 - July 22

Cancer the Crab is the fourth sign of the zodiac and people born under it are family-centered, tradition-bound and tied to the past. They fear the future and the unknown and like to create a secure, protective environment for themselves and their families. Cancerians are the mothers of the zodiac delight in taking care of their loved ones and are very understanding of other people. They are kind, tender and giving and hate to see suffering.

Patience is one of their gifts, as is sensing the moods of others. Some Cancerians, however, find it difficult to deal with reality and retreat into their daydreams and the safety of the past. They can be timid and when things go wrong they don't often take any action, mostly because they lack initiative. They must always be reassured that they are loved and will be cared for.

Leo
July 23 - August 21

Leo the Lion is the fifth zodiac sign, and these people tend to need constant attention and admiration. They make good leaders, organizers and administrators. They like to experience everything and delight in playing roles and melodrama. Leos are impulsive, passionate, fiery, confrontational and confident.

They are honourable and courageous and love loyally and sincerely, but can also be demanding, destructive, domineering, egotistical, materialistic and insensitive. Their opinions of themselves can often be extremely high, which tend to make them unpopular with many people.

Virgo
August 23 - September 22

Virgo the Virgin is the sixth sign of the zodiac. These people are good organizers and planners and are not afraid of working hard. They are logical, methodical, practical, very dependable, trustworthy and often perfectionists. Virgos are very observant and sensitive, as well as open and sincere. They avoid excesses in their lifestyles.

On the negative side, they can be very critical and think that they are the only ones who know how to do things. Also they can seem rather emotionless and miserly, and try to force their opinions onto others. Virgoans tend to have mood swings and can become depressed, pessimistic and even destructive.

Libra
September 23 - October 22

Libra the Scales is the seventh sign of the zodiac, and is the symbol of harmony and justice. Librans are emotionally rich, tactful and delicate and rarely ever give offense. They crave interaction and love parties and gossip and they make excellent hosts.

However, some tend to be judgmental and meddling and because of their dual nature (the scales) they tend to be indecisive and often rely too much on the opinions of others. Some Librans are also insincere and lean toward lying and dishonesty. They also tend toward vanity, materialism and jealousy.

Scorpio
October 23 - November 21

Scorpio the Scorpion is the eighth of the zodiac signs. Scorpios are sincere, determined, brave, courageous and strong-willed. They can also be very tender and loving, and their feelings are rarely superficial. Scorpios are perceptive and understanding and challenge often brings out their best traits.

Some Scorpions, however, are overly sensitive and boastful. They are also rather proud and arrogant and can be devious and ruthless, especially when it comes to revenge. They can be quite possessive and jealous and do not take well to marriage.

Sagittarius
November 22 - December 20

Sagittarius the Archer is the ninth sign and is known as the explorer and teacher of the zodiac. People born under this sign are curious, adventuresome, honest, love variety and despise routine. They are very understanding of people and therefore usually very tolerant. People enjoy the company of a Sagittarian because they are very easy-going and friendly. They are never envious or suspicious and always think well of others and can be depended upon.

Sagittarians are very forgiving, seldom critical and always generous. These people are innovative, but seldom revolutionary as they lack the energy. They value security, comfort and respectability, and despite their hatred of routine they respect custom and convention. Some Sagittarians are restless and take foolish risks. They can also be outspoken and lacking in tact and hurt others carelessly. They make promises they rarely keep and are often undisciplined.

Capricorn
December 22 - January 19

Capricorn the Goat is the tenth sign of the zodiac. Capricorns are very stable and patient, as well as honest and reliable. They are usually ambitious and know what they want out of life, and go after it. They are do not usually have a strong desire for money or possessions, success or fame. They crave power and lasting monuments.

They are cold and unemotional so as not to be distracted from their goals. Capricorns have a strong work ethic and managerial abilities, and they are capable of intense concentration and determination. Some Capricorns can be over-critical and have extremely high standards. Many also become materialistic, greedy, narrow-minded and bossy.

Aquarius
January 20 - February 18

Aquarius the Water Bearer is the eleventh of the zodiac signs, and is arguably the most outgoing. They set very high standards for themselves and others and are very reliable. Aquarians are one of the most tolerant signs and would never do anything to hurt another. This sign is very humanitarian, and also individualistic.

People born under Aquarius tend to be dreamers; making plans but rarely actually doing anything. They often are rather eccentric and unconventional and sometimes lose themselves in their own thoughts and forget the world around them. These people rarely admit their faults and often see themselves as of higher intelligence than others, and are often destructively critical of them.

Pisces
February 19 - March 20

Pisces the Fishes is the twelfth and final sign of the zodiac. These people can understand others' problems easily and because of their sympathetic nature are eager to help. Pisceans do not criticize others and are very broad-minded. They are said to be the most sensitive and vulnerable of signs, and are trustworthy, loyal and earnest.

People born under this sign are idealistic and wish to make the world a better place. Sometimes depression sets in and they feel they are being taken advantage of. They feel the world is cold and cruel and can easily be discouraged. Also, Pisceans can be lazy and lacking in willpower.
