Extracurricular in schools and Kosmandu

FAST FORWARD to your future….{excerpted from NewsWeek How to get into American Universities}
            Your goal throughout high school (higher secondary school) should be actively participate   in a range of diverse activities, and to excel in a few of them. But be careful not to overextend yourself; keep academic excellence at the forefront of all your plans. When you apply to college (ie. of bachelor’s degree) admission officers will look at your extra curricular record to activities and therefore to be well rounded.

HOW INVOLVED SHOULD YOU GET?

Your level of involvement can run the gamut from dabbling (occasionally attending meetings) to leadership. When joining an organization consider the role that you want to play initially and over time. Your level of involvement will be based on your level of interest and the amount of time you have to devote. Do try however, to pick at least one activity (preferably two) that you Progress in during your high school years. Establishing concrete goals is the first step to achieving them. Competitive colleges look for students who bring a unique perspective or skill to their schools. It helps if an admission committee can look to your activities and answer ‘yes’ to the following.

   Do you actively pursue your interests?
   Are you interested in helping others?
   Have you demonstrated a commitment to your community?
   Have you excelled in academics, the arts or on the athletic fields?
   Have you exhibited leadership skills?

   Do you possess unique skills and interests?

 Joining KOSMANDU equally counts. If you are a science student (or any other)  and wish to choose any scientific or technological career being a member of KOSMANDU means a lot. Here you get a chance to pursue interests in any scientific and technological fields in a variety of ways; discussing about mysteries of science and the universe, teaching others, creative writing or learning about the space-science, astronomy and space-tech.
