Departmental Inquiries - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Various topics relating to the conduct and defence of Departmental Inquiries are covered under distinct topics as applicable to different participants in the inquiry already. My message is that do not fail to use it in justified cases, but do not wrongly use, abuse or misuse it against scapegoats and innocent victims. Do not fail to used it as a tool, but do not misuse it as a weapon. Enforce discipline, but do not enforce revenge or ill-will against your employees using DE as a means.

Departmental Inquiry is a vast subject. It is conducted in Private Organizations, in Government and Public Sector Organizations. There are pertinent decisions of the Supreme Court of India, and the different High Courts, which are binding, as also clarifications by the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Department of Personnel attached to the Cabinet Secretariat. It is the desire to cover many issues not covered in the original narratives in this part by way of Questions and answers.

FAQ as a concept is a convenient device to segregate a number of one-time or occasionally confronted critical issues from the main plank, so that the added description of these issues at the principal level do not render it unwieldy, but still make it is possible to cover almost everything relevant in separate parts with provision for their quick retrieval, at times when needed. It also provides for future additions as I get feed back and queries from my viewers.

I invite pertinent queries on the subject of departmenal inquiries from serving Bank officers and other public servants on relevant topics not already covered in the website to be anwered as a supplementary source to the project under these pages.
