James Wesley Marsters was born in Greenville, California and raised in Modesto, California (so, no his Spike accent isn't real).

One of his first acting roles was in a fourth grade production of Winnie the Pooh, he played Eeyore.

James has also had roles in the television series Northern Exposure and Millennium. But he is best known to TV audiences for his role as Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

James hasn't just dazzled TV audiences, he has also done some film work. He had a part in the film House On Haunted Hill and did some work in a movie called Winding Roads, though very little is known about this film.

James has a pretty extensive background in theatre, having studied with the American Conservatory Theatre, the PCPA, and at Juliard. He has performed in countless plays, and if I notice a demand for these to be printed, I'll add them. He also helped to start a theatre company, The Genisis Theatre Company. His favorite theatrical role is Macbeth.

Little bits of James Info

James isn't really a blonde(duh), he bleaches it while filming about every nine days. However, since he has naturally curly hair and has always liked it straight, this helps the process some.

James aslo has some other talents beyond acting. He likes to sing, play guitar, and write.

James also has some pretty interesting musical tastes. He lists Radio Head, the Charletens, Miles Davis, and (a personal favorite of mine) the Cure as some of his tops.

James Marsters on Spike and BtVS

"I love playing Spike because I get into fights and no one has to go to the police station, and no one has to go to the hospital."

"I have to say that the people who do the hiring around here really understand how important it is that people work well together. A lot of people would sacrifice that for other things, but I think it makes a nice place to work."

"The mask makes me scary and Joss' words make me funny. And that's all there really has to be."

"Spike is still evil, he's just forced into helping Buffy. I don't think he would ever help, unless it was for his own selfish benefit."
