| To
the south-east of Christchurch are the prominent Port Hills and behind them Lyttelton
Harbour, Christchurch's port. Christchurch's first settlers landed at Lyttelton in 1850
and then made the historic trek over the hills to their new promised land. We took the Christchurch Gondola from the Heathcote Valley terminal. The 3 panoramas are views from the top (Mt Cavendish, around 500m). It was around 1/2 hr drive from Christchurch to the terminal. |
