FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. How do I submit a message? Send an email message to xdesign@yahoogroups.com OR post messages via the XDesign web page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xdesign. 2. How do I read group messages on the web? After signing in to Yahoo, go to the XDesign group page: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xdesign. The five most recent message headers will be displayed. A list of all submitted messages can be displayed by using the "Message" link in the menu at the left of the page. Messages are archived by month, and can be accessed via the monthly links at the bottom of the group page. 3. Is there a limit to the number of posts I can make per day? Answer: No. At present, there is no limit. However, we strongly suggest that you make "combo" (or combination) posts on days where group mail is heavy. In other words, copy pertinent quotes from original messages, and your responses, to several messages in one post. This is especially useful on days when you wish to give feedback on several art submissions in a day. List each member you wish to respond to, and your response, in the same message. This applies "thank yous" for feedback given on your work, as well. Don't flood the list with thank-you replies. Combo, or send them individually OFFLIST. 4. How do I submit an image or file for feedback? Answer: You may post the image or file on your own webspace, or at the XDesign file space connected to our Group. You can access this space at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xdesign. Use the "Files" link in the left-hand menu. Due to the fact that this group has a limit on bandwidth and to keep charges to a minimum for those members whose ISP charges based on time or bandwidth, we prefer that submissions be posted on the web and the web link submitted via group message. Do not make a habit of attaching files to group messages. This takes up far too much of our limited bandwidth allowance on Yahoo Groups, and tries the patience of those on dial-up access (56k modem or slower). Occasional small files (20k or less), are acceptable. |
