"Sentinel Echo" London, Kentucky February 22, 1962 BLEVINS ASHER, EX-WELL DRILLER, DIES AT AGE 90 Blevins Asher, retired well driller and farmer, London Route 5, died at 11:45 p.m. February 13 at Marymount Hospital at the age of 90 years. A native of Clay County, Mr. Asher was born Sept. 22, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson Asher. He was twice married: first to Luvina Cloyd, who preceded him in death in 1927 and secondly to Clora Sasser, who survives. He was a member of the Christian Church. Besides the widow, he leaves three daugthers and four sons: Esther Ledord, Verna Poe and A.J. and Charles Asher, all of Middletown, Ohio; Pearl Swanner, London and Daniel and Ray Asher, both of Houston, Texas; 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the House Funeral Home by the Rev. Dewey Havens. Interment followed in the Wiggington Cemetery, Route 1. |
"Sentinel Echo" London, Kentucky July 18, 1968 MRS. CORA ASHER DIES JULY 11 Mrs. Cora Bell Asher, 85, of Gibbs, Kentucky, died at 3:45 p.m. on July 11 at Marymount Hospital. The daughter of Susan Tuttle and William (Bill) Perry, Mrs. Asher was born in Missouri. She was married to Wallace Sasser, who is deceased and was later married to Blevins Asher, who is also deceased. Mrs. Asher was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Services were held July 14 at the Mt. Olive (sic) Baptist by the Rev. Billy Mitchell. Interment was in the Mt. Olive (sic) Cemetery at Tuttle, KY. Pallbearers were Kenneth Bruner, Leon Sasser, Lowell Sasser, Daryl Sasser, Darwin Sasser, and Ronnie Sasser. House Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one son, Champ Sasser, Gibbs, KY; six step children, Ester Ledford, Verna Poe and Charles Asher of Middletown, Ohio; Dan Asher and Ray Asher of Houston, TX; and Pearl Swanner of London; four brothers, Willie Perry of Washington; David Perry of Kellog, Idaho; John Perry of Bedford, Indiana; and Charlie Perry of London; ten grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. |

"News Journal" Corbin, KY Viola Mable Gregory Hensley, age 74, of Corbin, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, KY. She was born on May 25, 1930 to the late William Gregory and Pearl Sasser [sic] Swanner Gregory. She was a homemaker and a member of Gray Holiness Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hensley, (1) son; Lonnie Hensley, (1) sister; Estell Fore, (2) brothers; James and Robert Gregory. She is survived by (5) daughters; Barbara Lowe and husband David of Gray, Jenny Huskey and husband Donald of Corbin, KY, Kathy Smith and husband Ernest, Joyce Scalf and husband Roger all of Gray, and Brenda North and husband Debert of Corbin, (3) sons; Douglas Hensley of Corbin, Richard Hensley and wife, Nancy and Roger Hensley and wife Freida all of Gray, (1) brother; Howard Gregory of Corbin (12) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 2 PM at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lowe, Rev. Kenny Johnson and Rev. Dan Watkins officiating.
