MORRIS FAMILY

Ambrose MORRIS (no.2) was from somewhere
in NC, b. 1808 , and died in 1858, in Cross County, AR. Between NC and AR, he
went to TN, where all of his children were born. They resided in Fayette County, TN.
His last child was born in 1853, therefore he left TN for AR sometime after that date.
There is a possibility that the above mentioned Ambrose 's
father was also an Ambrose MORRIS (no. 1), and his father was Robert MORRIS, from Scotland
who married a girl named "Anne Ross" also from Scotland. This hasn't been
verified as yet, but I am working on it. This information was given to me by a
cousin that contacted me via e-mail. Her grandfather was John H. MORRIS, grandson of
Ambrose MORRIS no. 2.
Ambrose MORRIS no. 2 is my g-g-grandfather.
Regretfully, I do not know his wife's maiden name. I am still trying desperately to
find that information. From all indications the MORRIS family may
have migrated from England, (now believed to be from Scotland.). Other surnames
associated with my MORRIS line are : HAGGARD,
LILLARD, COLEMAN, BRADLEY, LIGHTFOOT, MCCOY, JONES, PHILLIPS, &
BALSSA. I will add another descendent chart soon, with these
surnames. Some of this information on the MORRIS’, I obtained
from family members and the LDS Church in Anniston, Calhoun, Alabama, also the LDS in
Marietta, Cobb, Georgia. Some came to me from Wanda Bouchey, a cousin
through Ambrose MORRIS' daughter, Sarah. I have
tried to keep the information as correct as possible. I am still doing research on these
families and should I find any new facts, I will up date my files as necessary. If anyone
