LATEST NEWS

CURRENT RANKING (29/11/04): Singles: 103 (356.00 points) Doubles: 48 (730.00 points)

25/11/04: A shame, Spain hasn't been lucky in the Fed Cup semifinals against France in Moscow and is out from the competition, so they won't play the final. BTW, next season Spain will be the fourth seed in this competition. Let's hope that Magüi has a good season and enters the team again.

10/11/04: On the 6th December will be published the ranking that determines which players enter the main draw at the Australian Open 2005 without having to play the qualifying draws. In principle, it seems that Magüi's ranking will stay more or less the same because not many players are currently playing, so it seems she'll avoid the qualifying rounds, but I'll confirm on that date. On the other hand, yesterday was announced the Spanish Fed Cup team that will play France in the semifinals from the 24th November in Moscow. It'll be: Anabel Medina, María Sánchez Lorenzo, Marta Marrero and Virginia Ruano. Let's hope that they can win. A shame that Magüi hasn't reached her level at the end of the season to have a chance to be in the team.

26/10/04: The season is over for Magüi, but I'll keep updating the rankings and some things I haven't had time before. As soon as I know something about Magüi's schedule for the next season, I'll put the info here. From here I just want to thank all the people that have visited this site during this season and also want to wish good holidays to Magüi ;).

25/10/04: Magüi and María Vento have lost to the Czechs Benesova/Birnerova by 6-2 and 6-2, so they are out of the tournament and Magüi ends the season.  A season in which things haven't gone well for Magüi, in which maybe the best things were to reach the top 20 for the first time in her career at the beginning of the year, and the doubles title in Eastbourne with Alicia Molik. Well, I hope that in this break Magüi will rest, will forget tennis a little bit, and that in the preseason she can get fit enough to reach her real level next season. From here we'll be supporting her as much as possible ;). ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!. In the updates section you can see all the things I have updated in the last days: results, points to defend and photos.

25/10/04: Since Magüi entered the top 100 in the WTA ranking for the first time in her career, in the year 1997, she had never left it. After 7 years in the top 100 (most of the time at least in the top 50), today Magüi appears for the first time out of it, exactly in the place 103. A great season followed by a bad season, in which Magüi hasn't been able to defend most of the points she had to defend, has provoked this fall of more than 80 places in the ranking in just a few months. The true is that the current Magüi's ranking doesn't correspond at all with Magüi's quality, but well, I hope that with rest and a good preseason, Magüi can improve her ranking little by little till she reaches where she deserves. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!! :):)

24/10/04: Magüi defetaed yesterday Melanie Klaffner by a clear 6-0 and 6-1, but has lost today in a close match to the American Lee-Waters, seed number 8, by 7-6 (7-5), 3-6 and 7-6 (9-7), in which she even had a match point in favour in the last tiebreak. What a shame! :(. In doubles she plays this week with the Venezuelan María Vento-Kabchi, they are the seeds number 3 of the tournament and play the Czechs Benesova/Birnerova tomorrow in the sixth match on the Centre Court. Let's hope that they can win.

22/10/04: The qualifying draw in Linz, last tournament of the season for Magüi, has already been released. Magüi will play tomorrow the Austrian Wild Card Melanie Klaffner in the first round . It's the fifth match on Centre Court, the first match starts at 10.30 h. Let's hope that she is luckier than in the previous weeks. ¡¡PÍO PÍO!!.

19/10/04: Magüi and Anabel have lost to Dechy/Golovin by 6-4 and 6-3 after a close first set in which Magüi and Anabel were serving to level it 5-5. The next tournament for Magüi, with the one Magüi will end the season, is the tournament in Linz, whose qualifying starts next Saturday. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

18/10/04: Magüi and Anabel play tomorrow against Dechy/Golovin in the seventh match of the only court where this tournament is played. The first match starts at 10 h, local time. Let's see if they can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

17/10/04: Magüi plays this week in doubles with the Spaniard Anabel Medina. They play on Tuesday the qualifiers Dechy/Golovin in the first round. It'll be a tough match, but let's hope that they can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

15/10/04: Well, this isn't Magüi's year :(. She has lost again to Kostanic, this time by a clear 6-1 and 6-2. I hope that she is luckier in doubles. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!. It's a shame seeing that Magüi isn't lucky and loses match after match, but I hope that after her holidays, in the preseason, she can recover her level and can give us nice surprises next year. From here we'll be supporting her all the time for that ;).

14/10/04: Magüi has finally been able to enter in the last moment the qualifying draw in Zürich. She'll play in the first round the Croat Jelena Kostanic, seed number 2, a tough rival that already defeated Magüi only some weeks ago. It's the fifth match on Court 1 (the first match starts at 10 h, local time). I hope that Magüi is much luckier this time. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

11/10/04: Bad news. Magüi and Tatiana have lost to Rodionova/Safina by 6-3 and 6-4, so the tournament in Moscow is already over for Magüi. In principle, Magüi will play her last tournament of the season in Linz (Austria), from 23rd of October. Let's hope that Magüi can do well there. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

11/10/04: Magüi plays again this week the doubles with the Ukranian Tatiana Perebiynis. In the first round they play today the Russians Rodionova/Safina. Let's hope that they are lucky. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

09/10/04: Magüi's unlucky season goes on :(. Today she has lost in the first round in the qualifying in Moscow against the Polish Marta Domachowska, seed number 8, by 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4). A shame, because he match has been close. Let's hope that she is luckier in doubles. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

07/10/04: Let's hope that Magüi is lucky with the qualifying in Moscow from next Saturday. The time difference between Moscow and Spain is +2 hours. After this tournament, Magüi will finally play only one tournament more to finish the season, the tournament in Linz (Austria), whose qualifying starts on Saturday 23th of October. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.

04/10/04: Magüi and Tatiana Perebiynis have lost to Dhenin/Weingartner by 6-4 and 6-4, so Magüi is already out of the tournament. Next Saturday starts the qualifying of the tournament in Moscow, and Magüi will play it. Let's hope that things go much better for her than this week. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.

03/10/04: Magüi plays the doubles this week in Filderstadt with the Ukranian Tatiana Perebiynis. In the first round they play tomorrow Dhenin/Weingartner. Let's hope that they can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

02/10/04: A shame. After some weeks without playing, Magüi got finally a Wild Card for the qualifying in Filderstadt, but she hasn't been lucky at all. She has played this morning the Croat Jelena Kostanic, fourth-seeded in the qualifying, and has lost by 6-3 and 6-2. Let's hope that she is luckier in the next weeks. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

18/09/04: Magüi and other Canarian sportspeople that have taken part at the Olympics were paid tribute yesterday by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria (Canarian government). This pic can't be seen well, but it's the only one that I have found of the event.

10/09/04: These will be, in principle, next Magüi's tournaments till the end of the season, all of them indoors: if she's given the Wild Card she has asked for, her first tournament would be the week of 4th October in Filderstadt (Germany), and later, the tournaments she is going to play for sure will be Moscow (week of 11th October), Zürich (week of 18th October) and Luxembourg (week of 25th October). Let's hope that in these weeks left she can be 100 % fit and can get good results in these tournaments. GOOD LUCK!!.

09/09/04: According to the draw of the Fed Cup semifinals done today, Spain will finally play France at the end of November in Moscow. It'll be a tough tie, but let's hope that the Spanish team is lucky, and if possible, that Magüi is part of the team. GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!.

07/09/04: I don't know yet which tournaments Magüi will play next, because I haven't seen her name in any of the commitments lists of the tournaments in the next 2-3 weeks, but as soon as I know anything, I'll put the info here.

03/09/04: Magüi and Alicia also lost in doubles in a very close match against Camerin/Sequera by 3-6, 6-2 and 7-6 (7-4). A shame that Magüi hasn't been that lucky this week, but let's hope that from now on the results are better. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

02/09/04: Bad news :(, there was no luck at all. Magüi has clearly lost to Capriati by 6-0 and 6-2. Today she'll play doubles. It's the fourth match on Court 14 (the first match starts at 11 h, local time). GOOD LUCK!!. In the next days I'll add some pics of Magüi at the US Open and in New Haven.

01/09/04: The doubles draw has already been released. Magüi and Alicia are the seeds number 13 and they'll play Camerin/Sequera in the first round. Let's hope that they can go far in the tournament. This time Magüi doesn't play the mixed doubles.

01/09/04: Magüi plays today from 19 h, local time, on Court Artur Ashe against the American Capriati. It'll be a very tough match, but I hope that Magüi has a good day and can give the surprise. ¡¡PÍO PÍO!! ;). Tomorrow I'll put in here the score.

31/08/04: Good news! :). Magüi has defeated Maureen Drake by 6-2 and 6-4, so she reaches the second round, where she'll have on Wednesday a really tough rival, the American Jennifer Capriati, seed number 8 of the tournament. GOOD LUCK MAGÜI!!.

30/08/04: Magüi plays today at the US Open. She finally plays the Canadian Maureen Drake. It's the second match on Court 9, the first one starts at 11 h, local time. GOOD LUCK!!.

30/08/04: Magüi and Alicia reached the semifinals in New Haven after defeating Callens/Gagliardi by 7-5 and 7-6 (7-1), and in the semifinals they lost to Petrova/Shaughnessy, seeds number 2, by 6-1, 0-6 and 6-3.

26/08/04: Magüi and Alicia play today in the  quarterfinals of New Haven against Callens/Gagliardi from 13 h, local time, on Grandstand Court. Let's hope they can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

26/08/04: Magüi will play a qualifier in the first round at the US Open. This is Magüi's section of the draw:

Jennifer Capriati (8) v. Denisa Chladkova
Qualifier v. Magüi Serna
Vera Douchevina v. Aniko Kapros
Marion Bartoli v. Meghann Shaughnessy (32)

25/08/04: Today the US Open's draw will be made. I hope that Magüi has a 'decent' draw and can win some rounds and improve her ranking, which has dropped a lot in the last weeks. Tomorrow I'll put in Magüi's section of the draw.

25/08/04: Magüi and Alicia have defeated Russell/Santangelo by 6-4, 4-6 and 6-3, so they reach the quarterfinals, where they'll play Callens/Gagliardi on Thursday. BTW, I don't think that I can update the site with the result in some days.

24/08/04: Bad news. Magüi has lost to Nathalie Dechy by 6-1 and 6-4 in first round. In doubles, Magüi and Alicia play today Russell/Santangelo in the first round. It's the fifth match on Court Stadium (the first match on that court starts at 13 h, local time). Let's hope that they can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

23/08/04: Magüi plays today Monday the French Nathalie Dechy. It's the third match on Court Grandstand (the first match starts at 12 h, local time, 18 h in Spain). Magüi isn't too lucky when she plays the French player, but I hope that she can get a good result and starts recovering the confidence for the rest of the season. ¡¡VAMOS!!. I'll update the result tomorrow.

22/08/04: In doubles, Magüi and Alicia are the seeds number 4. and they'll play Russell/Santangelo in the first round. Magüi will start the tournament on Monday.

20/08/04: Magüi will play the French Nathalie Dechy, seed number 8, in the first round in New Haven. It's a tough match, but let's hope that Magüi can win. GOOD LUCK!!.

20/08/04: From here I'd like to congratulate Conchita Martínez and Virginia Ruano on reaching the doubles final in the Olympic Games, which secures them an olympic medal. Let's hope that they are lucky and can be olympic champions. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

20/08/04: In principle, and if there are not changes as it was scheduled, next Magüi's tournaments will be New Haven and the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, both on hard court. The qualifying of the tournament in New Haven starts today Friday, and in principle Magüi had to play it, but the thing is that some players have withdrawn in the last moments, so Magüi should finally enter the main draw (which starts on Sunday). The time difference between New Haven (and also New York) and Spain is -6 hours. Let's see if Magüi finally plays and can do well. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

17/08/04: Magüi's olympic dream is over :(. Magüi has lost to Myskina by a clear 6-0 and 6-1, so she is already out from the olympic tournament, because she hasn't been able to take part in doubles. There was bad luck with the draw, it was a very tough first round and Magüi hasn't been able to give the surprise. Anyway, I'm sure that Magüi has enjoyed her second olympic experience, and let's hope that we can see her in China 2008, playing her third Olympic Games ;). This is what Magüi said after her match:

"In Sydney I was sick and now I had a bad draw", the Canarian said, disappointed for the cruelty of the defeat.

Serna confessed that she never entered in the match, due to her lack of rhythm because of a stop in the competition since Wimbledon, and for the strong wind, which didn't facilitate her task.

The Canarian doesn't give up and expects to be in four years in the next Olympic Games.

"I was looking forward to getting even of the Olympic Games since Sydney, but it hasn't been possible. But I have lost probably to the player in the best moment in the circuit", she said.

Serna leaves the tournament with "a bad taste in her mouth", because "the Games always generate excitement" and you feel bad when you lose although it's against the winner of Roland Garros.

The only good news for Magüi in Athens was "finding my luggage" that was lost at the airport when she arrived in Athens, which was a big upset for her. "I thought I would never recover it, so having found it was like winning a good match", she said.

15/08/04: Magüi will play tomorrow Myskina on Court 1 from 17 h, local time (16 h in Spain). I hope that she plays a wonderful match. GOOD LUCK!!. By the way, I don't know if I'll be able to update the result tomorrow, otherwise, I'll update the result of this match on Tuesday. The results can be followed here.

14/08/04: Magüi will play on Monday her first-round match against the Russian Myskina. It'll be tough to win this match, but Magüi will fight for sure as hard as possible to get a great win. BTW, good news, Magüi's luggage appeared, as I could see on the Spanish sports news, Magüi showing her happiness for this fact, almost as if she had won a medal ;). GOOD LUCK MAGÜI!.

13/08/04: A shame, the Olympics haven's started well for Magüi. Today is the Opening Ceremony and she has lost her luggage. Here the news:

The Spanish tennis player Magüi Serna lost her luggage in the journey to Athens from Spain, with all the things to compete and with the uniform that she'll wear in the Opening Ceremony.

The Canarian player, who plays in singles, hasn't been able to train with her usual material and although she has been said that she'll have her luggage in the next hours, she is afraid that she won't have it for the Opening Ceremony and for the beginning of the competition.

"I've been told that if they don't find it, I'll have clothes for the Opening Ceremony. But I hope that they find it", she said some hours before the start of the Ceremony.

12/08/04: The Olympic Games' draw has already been released and Magüi hasn't been lucky at all. Magüi will play the Russian Anastasia Myskina, seed number 3 of the tournament and one of the big favourites to win the title, in the first round. Let's hope that she is lucky and can give the surprise. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

This is Magüi's section of the draw:

(3) Anastasia Myskina (RUS) vs Magüi Serna (ESP)
Kristina Brandi (PUR) vs Jelena Kostanic (CRO)
Aniko Kapros (HUN) vs Eleni Daniilidou (GRE)
Klara Koukalova (CZE) vs (15) Magdalena Maleeva (BUL)

12/08/04: Magüi is already in Athens!. This is what she said before leaving from Barcelona:

The Canarian tennis player Magüi Serna, who will play her second Games, said that she has "an incredible excitement" and that she is "very happy" for going to the Olympic event, although getting medals "is going to be complicated", although everyone goes "with many wishes to get as many medals as possible".

Anyway, the player, who hasn't played a tournament in over a month due to an injury, explains that she is going "with the batteries charged" and that she is going to try "to do as good as possible".

Magüi pointed out the chances of the Spanish Olympic men's team to be in the podium, although she didn't rule out that in the women's team can be "any surprise". Talking about the option in doubles, she said that "there are always surprises".

10/08/04: Magüi and the rest of Spanish players that will play in Athens will travel tomorrow, 11th August, to the Greek capital to start preparing the olympic tournament, which will start on 15th August, and to be in the Opening Ceremony, on 13th August. The olympic draw will be made next Thursday, 12th August. Let's hope that Magüi has a nice draw and can go far in the tournament. GOOD LUCK!!.

09/08/04: A shame, although Magüi was in the initial draw in Sopot, she has finally withdrawn from the tournament, so her next tournament will be the Olympic Games in Athens, which start next Sunday, and where I hope that Magüi has a nice performance. GOOD LUCK!!.

07/08/04: Magüi is back! :). Magüi will finally play in Sopot, which starts next Monday. She'll play in the first round the Czech Strycova. GOOD LUCK!!.

07/08/04: The final phase of the Fed Cup, in which will be Spain, will be played in Moscow at the end of November. On 10th September we'll know who is the rival of Spain in the semifinals. I hope that Magüi can be in the team by then.

05/08/04: Finally Magüi hasn't played any tournament during these weeks and her next tournament will probably be the Olympic Games in Athens, where I hope that she is completely recovered from her injury and can have a good performance. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

22/07/04: Next Monday I'll be away, so it's quite probable that I can't update the site till 5th August or later. I don't know very well which tournaments Magüi will play during this time. She is scheduled to play Montreal (week of 2nd August, on hard court) and Sopot (week of 9th August, on clay), but I'm not completely sure that she plays both of them; if I learn something before going away, I'll let you know. The Spanish tennis Olympic team is due to travel to Athens on 11th August (on my birthday, hehe ;)), the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony is on 13th August, and the tennis tournament starts on 15th August. Good summer to everyone!. And I hope that Magüi can do well during these weeks.

20/07/04: Today it's the fourth anniversary of this site. This site was created in order to inform as much and as often as possible about Magüi's performance in the WTA circuit. During this long time we have fortunately lived good moments in Magüi's career, such as the singles and doubles titles, her performances in the Fed Cup representing Spain, and the possibility of taking part in the Olympic Games; and also bad moments, such as moments when the results aren't that good, injuries and 'weird' decisions of the Spanish Federation of not including her in some Fed Cup ties or in a doubles team in Athens in spite of being well ranked enough for that. But well, from here I just want to thank the collaboration of the people that has helped me in any way with the site, by informing about the scores or sending pics or other things, I also want to thank the people that have written to me commenting things related to the site, and of course, the people that has visited this site during these years, just for once or regularly, and also Magüi and family, it was a nice surprise learning that they had visited this site. Well, I don't want to write much longer ;). The idea is to continue with this site in the next years, informing about Magüi's performance, when I have time for that, because the site, not only is useful to be up-to-date on what's happening in the tennis circuit, but also has given me the chance of making new friends during this time. So, many thanks to everyone! and I hope to continue informing when it's possible for me.

12/07/04: Spain in semifinals!. Spain has qualified for the semifinals of the Fed Cup after defeating Belgium by 3-2, after having finished the first day with a 0-2 defeat. Congratulations girls!. At the end of November will be played a final phase in one of the four countries qualified for the semifinals (Spain, France, Austria or Russia), but it will probably be in France. I hope that this time Magüi will have the chance of being in the team.

09/07/04: Bad news :(. Magüi has still problems with her left shoulder, so, in order not to have problems to play in Athens, she is going to rest the next weeks to see if she can recover completely. For the moment, it's almost sure that she'll miss the tournaments in Stanford, Los Ángeles and San Diego. Well, I hope that Magüi is perfectly when she comes back, in principle, and if there are not late changes, in Montreal, which is the tournament before the Olympic Games. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.

05/07/04: Magüi appears this week in the place number 25 in the doubles ranking, which is her best career doubles ranking so far. CONGRATULATIONS MAGÜI!!. With data like this it's difficult to understand that the Spanish Tennis Federation has 'forgotten' to include Magüi in one of the two doubles teams that will represent Spain in Athens.

01/07/04: In principle, and although it isn't confirmed yet, Magüi's next tournament, after her absence (for me difficult to understand) in the Fed Cup tie, will be the tournament in Stanford, on hard court, which starts on 12 th July. Let's hope that Magüi has a good start of the American season and can have a good preparation for the Olympic Games in Athens.

30/06/04: Today has been a day full of tennis news, and the thing is that they weren't too good for Magüi's interest. The first news is that she won't play the Fed Cup tie against Belgium. It seems it has been a technical decision of the Spanish captain because the tie is played on clay, but it's a shame, because it seems that Magüi is recovering the good game in the last days. Anyway, a small break will probably be positive for Magüi. The other news of the day is that the Spanish team that will play the Olympic Games in Athens has already been announced. As I commented, Magüi will be one of the four players that will play the singles. But the doubles question was unknown till today (although expected), and here comes for me a big  injustice. Two Spanish teams will play in Athens, Conchita Martínez/Virginia Ruano (this is the Spanish team folowing the doubles ranking) and one Wild Card, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario/Anabel Medina. Well, I can't understand the decision of the Spanish Tennis Federation. The thing was to 'choose' a partner for Arantxa, who receives the WC, and well, seeing the current doubles ranking you find:

(2) Virginia Ruano Pascual

(14) Conchita Martínez

(27) Magüi Serna

(93) Arantxa Parra

Well, I think they should have respected the doubles ranking to choose the partner, and having chosen a team by caprice is completely unfair for Magüi, who could have had the chance of playing both singles and doubles in Athens. It's difficult to understand that if Spain has two doubles teams in Athens, the third Spanish player in doubles isn't in any of them. But this is only a personal opinion, I have nothing against the team that will play, but I just wanted to express my modest opinion.

29/06/04: These are, in principle, the next tournaments for Magüi: Fed Cup (next 10th and 11th July Spain will play the quarterfinals against Belgium in Jerez de la Frontera. Tomorrow is scheduled to be announced the Spanish team, so I hope that Magüi is one of the members of the team), Stanford (not confirmed yet. This tournament is played the week of 12th July), Los Ángeles (week of 19th July), San Diego (week of 26th July), Montreal (week of 2nd August) and Olympic Games in Athens (the tennis event starts on 15th August).

28/06/04: Magüi and Alicia have lost to Golovin/Pierce in a close match by 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (5-7) and 6-3. Later, Magüi and Merklein have lost in mixed doubles by 6-4 and 6-2, so Wimbledon is already over for Magüi.

27/06/04: Magüi and Alicia play tomorrow Monday against Golovin/Pierce. It's the third match on Court 4 (the first one starts at 11 h, local time). Later, in the fifth turn of the same court, Magüi and Merklein will play Allegro/Casanova. GOOD LUCK!!.

27/06/04: It wasn't possible :(. Magüi has lost to Serena Williams by 6-4 and 6-0. The start of the match has been good for Magüi, who has 'stood up to' the American, but later Serena has been too good for Magüi. Anyway, good tournament for Magüi, who is still in competition in doubles. Let's hope she is lucky. Tomorrow I'll include some pics of Magüi and words at Wimbledon.

27/06/04: Yesterday there wasn't play in Wimbledon due to rain, so Magüi will play today in some minutes, from 16 h, local time, on Centre Court against Serena Williams. It's a very tough match, but let's hope that Magüi is lucky. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

25/06/04: Magüi and Alicia have defeated Baker/Sewell by 6-3 and 7-5, so they reach the second round in doubles, where they'll play the French team Golvin/Pierce. Magüi will play tomorrow Serena Williams in singles. Tomorrow's schedule hasn't been released yet, but I think I won't be able to update the site till Sunday. GOOD LUCK MAGÜI!!.

25/06/04: Good news!. Magüi has defeated Jane O'Donoghue by 6-3 and 6-3, so she has reached the third round in Wimbledon, where she'll play Serena Williams, seed number 1 of the tournament and defending champion. It'll be a really tough match, but it seems that Magüi is playing better each day, so let's hope that she gives the surprise. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!. BTW, as curiosity, on Radio Wimbledon you can hear the narration of the last point of the match. Thanks Jorn for telling me! ;)

24/06/04: Magüi will play in tomorrow the British player Jane O'Donoghue in the second round from 11 h, local time, on Court 13. Magüi isn't too lucky when she plays British players in England, but I hope that this time she has no problems and can win her match. Some hours later she'll play doubles, the fifth match of Court 4. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.

23/06/04: Tomorrow's schedule has already been released and, although in principle Magüi should play tomorrow, she won't play nor singles nor doubles because of the big delay of the tournament due to rain. Let's hope that it's her turn on Friday. BTW, Magüi plays again the mixed doubles, this time with the Bahamian Mark Merklein, and they play the Swiss team Allegro/Casanova  in the first round.

23/06/04: There have been changes in the doubles draw due to some withdrawals. Magüi and Alicia are now the seeds number 17 of the tournament, and they'll face Baker/Sewell in the first round. Let's hope that they do well. BTW, it continues raining in Wimbledon, so let's see when the second singles round and the first doubles round of Magüi are scheduled, because the tournament goes with a lot of delay.

22/06/04: Good news! :). Magüi has defeated the Greek Daniilidou by 6-4 and 6-2, so she has got the first win of the season on grass and has qualified for the second round of Wimbledon, where she'll play the British player Jane O'Donoghue. Good win for Magüi, because the Greek was a tough rival and seeded. Congratulations! :). BTW, fortunately Magüi's match has been fast, because after finishing the match there was rain delay.

21/06/04: Magüi will play tomorrow Tuesday against the Greek Daniilidou, seed number 30 of the tournament. It's the third match on Court 17 (the first one starts at 12 h, local time, and it's a ladies' one. The second one is a men's one). Anyway, the weather forecast for tomorrow says it'll rain, and today there have already been many interruptions due to rain, so I hope that Magüi can play tomorrow her match witthout many stops, and besides that she can win ;). GOOD LUCK MAGÜI!!.

20/06/04: MAGÜI AND ALICIA CHAMPIONS IN THE TOURNAMENT IN EASTBOURNE! :):). Magüi and won yesterday the doubles tournament in Eastbourne after defeating the seeds number 1 Kuznetsova/Likhovtseva by 6-4 and 6-4. Great tournament for them, because all the teams they have beaten were 'superiors' in theory. This is the second doubles title for Magüi, the first one with Alicia. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!. I hope that this great result in doubles gives them confidence for Wimbledon. BTW, Magüi will make her debut on Tuesday in the third Grand Slam of the season.

18/06/04: Magüi and Alicia in the doubles final! :). Magüi and Alicia have qualified for the doubles final after defeating Bovina/Pratt by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-2 and they'll play in it Kuznetsova/Likhovtseva, seeds number 1. It's the second year in a row that Magüi reaches the doubles final of this tournament, last year she played with Capriati. Let's hope that they do well tomorrow. The match will be played tomorrow after the singles final, which will start at 13 h, local time. Unfortunately, I won't be able to update the site till Sunday afternoon. Sorry!. You can follow scores on the Eastbourne's site. GOOD LUCK GIRLS!.

17/06/04: WOW!. Magüi and Alicia have defeated Navratilova/Raymond in an interesting match by 6-2, 3-6 and 6-4. Great win for them, because it was a very difficult match. In semifinals, Magüi and Alicia will play tomorrow Bovina/Pratt. It's the third match on Centre Court (the first one starts at 11.30 h, local time).  ¡¡SUERTE!!.

17/06/04: Wimbledon's draw has already been released. Magüi hasn't been too lucky, because she has to play a seed in the first round, the Greek Eleni Daniilidou, seed number 30 of the tournament. Let's hope that she can win. The doubles draw has also been released. Magüi and Alicia will play Liggan/Parra in the first round. ¡¡VAMOS!!. This is Magüi's section of the draw (this part of the draw plays on Tuesday):

Williams S. (1) - Zheng

Qualifier - Cohen-Aloro

Lee-Waters - O'Donoghue

SERNA - Daniilidou (30)

16/06/04: Magüi and Alicia will play tomorrow Navratilova/Raymond in quarters. A priori, a tough match, but let's hope that they can give the surprise. It's the fourth match on Centre Court (the first match starts at 11.30 h, local time). GO GIRLS!!.

16/06/04: Magüi doesn't play this year the 'Eastbourne Cup'. It's a consolation tournament played in Eastbourne. The players that have lost in the qualifying or in the first round usually play this, it doesn't give you points, but it gives you practice on grass and you can have fun. Magüi has won this 'tournament' twice.

15/06/04: Next Thursday will be released the draw of the third Grand Slam of the season, Wimbledon, which starts next Monday. Magüi won't be seeded, so any rival is possible in the first round. Let's hope that she has a nice draw and can do a nice tournament. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.

15/06/04: Magüi and Alicia will play on Thursday the seeds number 2 of the tournament, Navratilova/Raymond, in the doubles quarterfinals. GOOD LUCK!!.

15/06/04: It wasn't possible. Magüi and María have played a close match that lasted one hour and a half, but María has won it by 6-4 and 7-6 (7-2). Both players have had chances to break their rival's serve, but unfortunately Magüi didn't take hers. Well, it seems that Magüi isn't lucky this year on grass, hopefully she'll do better next week at Wimbledon. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

14/06/04: Good news!. Magüi and Alicia have defeated in doubles the tough team Husarova/Martínez by 6-4 and 6-2. Let's hope that Magüi is lucky tomorrow against María Sánchez Lorenzo. It's the second match on Court 2 (the first one starts at 12 h, local time). It won't be easy, but I hope that Magüi gets her first win on grass this season. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

13/06/04: Magüi will play in the first round in Eastbourne the Spaniard María Sánchez Lorenzo on Tuesday. Tomorrow Magüi and Alicia will play Husarova/Martínez in the first round in doubles. It's the fourth match on Court 1 (the first one starts at 11.30 h, local time). I hope that Magüi is completely recovered from her problems in a shoulder and she can play a good tournament. GOOD LUCK!!.

11/06/04: MAGÜI QUALIFIED TO PLAY HER SECOND OLYMPIC GAMES. Magüi will appear next Monday in the place number 49 in the ranking, as second Spanish player. This ranking guarantees Magüi's place for the Olympics, because, although in principle only 48 players have a direct entry, and Magüi is the number 49, only 4 players of each country can attend the Olympic Games, and in the top 50 there are many more Russian and American players. So, congratulations to Magüi for qualifying for her second Olympic Games! :)

11/06/04: Bad news, in spite of having won yesterday in doubles, Magüi and Alicia have retired from the tournament due to new problems in Magüi's left shoulder. Anyway, it seems that Magüi will be able to play in Eastbourne, which starts on Monday. Let's hope that Magüi recovers as soon as possible. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

10/06/04: Magüi and Alicia have been able to finish at last the doubles match suspended yesterday after the second set due to poor light, and besides with a good result, having defeated Baltacha/Janes by 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-3) and 6-1. In the quarterfinals they'll play tomorrow McShea/Sequera. It's the fifth match on Centre Court. GOOD LUCK!!.

09/06/04: Well, the doubles match between Magüi/Alicia and Baltacha/Janes has been suspended due to poor light after the second set was played.  The British team has won the first set by 7-6 (7-2), while Magüi and Alicia have won the second set by 7-6 (7-3). The rest of the match will be played tomorrow. It's the fourth match on Court 2 (the first match starts at 11 h, local time). GOOD LUCK!!.

08/06/04: Magüi and Alicia play tomorrow the first round in doubles against the British team Baltacha/Janes. It's the fifth match on Centre Court (the first one starts at 11 h, local time). GOOD LUCK!!.

07/06/04: Bad news. Magüi has lost to Kremer by a clear 6-2 and 6-2 in the first round at Birmingham. According to what Caz, who was there, has told me, this was one of these days when nothing works for you. A shame, let's hope that things go better in doubles on Wednesday. ¡¡VAMOS!!. I think that in spite of this early defeat, Magüi is already mathematically qualified for the Olympics in Athens due to some results today, but I prefer waiting till next week's rankings to confirm it.

06/06/04: Magüi is the seed number 12 at Birmingham and she'll play Anne Kremer, from Luxembourg, in the first round. In doubles, Magüi and Alicia are the seeds number 3 of the tournament, and they'll play the British team Baltacha/Janes in the first round. Magüi plays tomorrow in singles, it's the second match on Centre Court (the first one starts at 11 h, local time). GOOD LUCK!!.

04/06/04: Next Monday starts the tournament in Birmingham, first tournament of the season on grass for Magüi, where in principle, Magüi will be one of the 16 seeds. As I commented, the ranking after this tournament will determine which players will go to the Olympic Games in Athens, with the most than probable presence of Magüi in this important event for a sportsperson. It's curious, because exactly 4 years ago, Magüi was fighting with Gala León for the last Spanish place in Sydney, and she got it in spite of being really unlucky at Birmingham and having to retire from a really close match due to an injury, but later she played an excellent Wimbledon and she won that deserved place. In this occasion, the thing seemed clear for Magüi, but that inopportune injury when Magüi had to defend so many points, makes that at this moment Magüi still depends on the results of this tournament to secure her place mathematically. Hopefully her serve will work good and she'll be able to get some wins. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

02/06/04: Next 14 of June will be published the rankings that will determine which players will play the Olympics in Athens. In spite of all the problems that Magüi has had this season (not that good results and injuries), Magüi is 'virtually' qualified for the Olympics, but not mathematically yet, so we'll have to wait a couple of weeks to confirm Magüi's presence in Athens. I think a Magüi's win in first round would secure her a place, but with a defeat it would be almost impossible that she was out of Athens.

31/05/04: Magüi will play from next week three tournaments on grass: Birmingham, Eastbourne and Wimbledon. Let's hope that she can do well!.

31/05/04: I'm back from Paris, where I have  had some excellent days following all the tournament of Roland Garros of Magüi. I summarise the results. In singles, Magüi played two exciting and long matches. In the first round she defeated the Japanese Akiko Morigami with more difficulties than expected, in a really long match that lasted 2 hours and thirty minutes by 6-3, 3-6 and 8-6. Magüi saved two matches points, the thing is that my sister and I were really nervous, lol, but Magüi could save them (I won't forget that line in the second match point...) and later she had steel nerves to be able to win that match. What a happiness! ;). In the second round, Magüi played the Russian Zvonareva, seed number 11 of the tournament. The Russian was favourite to win that match, but Magüi fought really hard, playing an excellent first set. Unfortunately the Russian reacted on time and Magüi was a little bit down after such a big effort, but she never gave up and in fact she was close to give the surprise. It wasn't possible, but great match of Magü. The score was 5-7, 6-1 and 6-4 for Zvonareva and lasted two hours. A shame that Magüi's serve didn't work that well in those two matches, it would have done things easier for her. Anyway,I've seen Magüi at a good level. In doubles, Magüi and Alicia were the seeds number 12 of the tournament. In the first round they played 'easy' rivals in theory, the Americans Mattek and Spears, but they didn't have a good day and in spite of fighting till the end, they lost by 6-3, 6-7 (5-7) and 6-3 in another long match. BTW, what outfit did Mattek wear to play tennis!. No comment ;). Magüi played also mixed doubles for the first time in Paris (she had done before in other Grand Slams). She played with the Argentinian Martín Rodríguez and lost in the first round to Navratilova/Paes, seeds number 6, by 6-3 and 6-2. As an anecdote, the Sunday previous to he start of the tournament Magüi played an exhibition match against Jugic-Salkic and won by a clear 9-4. Tomorrow I'll put on the site some of the pics of Magüi that I have taken these days.

21/05/04: The Roland Garros' draw has already been released. Magüi will play the Japanese Akiko Morigami in the first round . Let's hope that she can do well. I'll be in Paris from tomorrow till the following Sunday to watch Magüi play, so it's almost sure that I won't be able to update the site during these days, unless I can connect, but it's unlikely. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!. This is the part of the draw where Magüi is:

Zvonareva (10)-Qualifier

Serna-Morigami

Grande-Nagyova

Schwartz-Sharapova (18)

20/05/04: Too bad, Magüi has lost to Smashnova-Pistolesi, seed number 2, by a clear 6-1 and 6-0. It seems she has learnt to defeat Magüi clearly this year. Let's hope that Magüi is luckier next week at Roland Garros. Tomorrow is the draw. Magüi won't be seeded (remember that she was fighting for this goal when she got injured, so she lost all her chances), so anyone could be her rival in the first round. Good luck in the draw!.

20/05/04: Magüi in quarters!. Magüi defeated Meusburger yesterday by a clear 6-1 and 6-2 and will play today Smashnova-Pistolesi, seed number 2,  in the quarterfinals. This player defeated Magüi easily last week, but let's hope today it's Magüi's turn. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

18/05/04: Good news!. Easy win for Magüi against Anca Barna by a clear 6-1 and 6-0. In the next round, Magüi will play the Austrian Wild Card Yvonne Meusburger. ¡¡VAMOS!!. In doubles, Magüi and Alicia have lost in the first round by 6-2 and 6-2. BTW, Magüi will play her second-round match tomorrow from 15.30 h on Centre Court, but it'll be impossible for me to update the site till Thursday's afternoon. I'm sorry!.

18/05/04: Magüi will play today from 10.30 h her first-round match against the German Anca Barna on Court 11. Later, in the third turn of that court, she'll play her doubles match. Let's hope that she can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

15/05/04: Magüi is the seed number 7 in Vienna and she'll play the German Anca Barna in the first round. In doubles, Magüi and Alicia are the seeds number 4 of the tournament and they'll play he Chineses Yan/Zheng in the first round. By the way, Magüi won't make her debut in this tournament till Tuesday. Let's hope that she does well. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

11/05/04: Next Magüi's tournament will be next week in Vienna.

11/05/04: Bad news from Rome. Magüi has lost to Smashnova-Pistolesi in the first round by a clear 6-2 and 6-1. Later, Magüi and Alicia have lost in doubles by 6-4 and 6-4.

10/05/04: Magüi will play tomorrow against Smashnova-Pistolesi in the first round in Rome from 13 h on Court 6. Later, in the last turn of the court, she'll play doubles. GOOD LUCK!!.

08/05/04: The Roma's draw has been released. Magüi hasn't been too lucky, because she'll play on Tuesday in the first round a tough rival on clay, the Israeli Anna Pistolesi, seed number 16. Let's hope that Magüi is lucky!. ¡VAMOS!. In doubles, Magüi and Alicia Molik play the Italians sisters Serra Zanetti in the first round.

07/05/04: On Monday starts the tournament in Rome. Let's hope that Magüi is lucky!. ¡VAMOS!.

03/05/04: Good news!. It seems that Magüi has recovered from her injury, and if there are not late setback, she'll come back to the competition next week in Rome. Let's hope that she can do well. ¡VAMOS!.

29/04/04: Well, it seems that Magüi continues injured and she has withdrawn from the tournament in Berlin, which will be played next week. We hope that Magüi comes back as soon as possible and can play some of the tournaments before Roland Garros. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.

29/04/04: We already commented that we were going to Cartagena to support the Spanish Fed Cup team, in which unfortunately Magüi wasn't due to an injury. But of course we didn't want to forget Magüi, and we put some flags and a banner of support for her, which lasted a short time, but in spite of this we could take a pic ;).

28/04/04: We didn't want to talk about this topic before, but lately we have heard rumours on the possibility that the ex tennis player Arantxa Sánchez Vicario plays the doubles at the Olympic Games in Athens being part of a second Spanish team (the first team would be in principle Conchita Martínez and Virginia Ruano). It seems that Arantxa's partner would be Anabel Medina. From this Magüi's site we want to comment that we think it would be really unfair that, if Spain brings two double teams, Magüi, currently and with difference Spain's number three in doubles, would be out of both teams. We want to make clear that we have nothing against Arantxa and Anabel, but we just think that if this happens, Magüi would be the Spanish player clearly affected.

28/04/04: Magüi is still in the list of the players that will take part next week in the tournament in Berlin, so we hope that she is already recovered and can finally play.

22/04/04: Magüi has dropped some places in the ranking in the last weeks, due to the substraction of the points she got last year when she won Estoril and Budapest and the no chance of getting any point in the month of April this year, so she doesn't currently have a seed place for Roland Garros. We hope that she can come back soon to be able to enter the fight for a seed place in Roland Garros. ¡¡ÁNIMO MAGÜI!!.

16/04/04: It seems it's already confirmed that Magüi has withdrawn from Warsaw :(.

15/04/04: It was scheduled that Magüi would play next the following tournaments: Warsaw, Berlin, Rome, Vienna and Roland Garros, but it's possible that she misses some more tournaments due to an injury in her left shoulder. It seems it's confirmed that Magüi has withdrawn from Warsaw. From here we want to wish Magüi a quick recovery and that she doesn't come back till she's perfect, as some fans always say, patience is a virtue ;). ¡¡VAMOS!!.

14/04/04: Today has been announced the Spanish Fed Cup team that will play Switzerland on 24-25 April and Magüi, still injured, isn't in it. A shame, because we are travelling to Cartagena to see the tie and we were looking forward to seeing Magüi play :(. Let's hope that she recovers soon and we can see her soon playing tournaments. The Spanish team will be Conchita Martínez, María Sánchez Lorenzo, Marta Marrero and Virginia Ruano. GOOD LUCK!!.

10/04/04: Bad news :(. As we were dreading, Magüi hasn't been able to recover from her left shoulder injury and won't play in Estoril, so she won't travel to Portugal to defend her title. A shame that an injury comes in such a bad moment. We hope that Magüi recovers as soon as possible. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

08/04/04: Next Monday starts the tournament in Estoril. In principle, and if there is no change, Magüi will play and will be the seed number one of the tournament. GOOD LUCK!!.

06/04/04: Bad news. Magüi has some problems in her left shoulder and she might miss some of the next tournaments. Let's hope that during these days she can recover completely and she can be fit as soon as possible. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

04/04/04: Magüi won't finally play in Casablanca, so her first tournament of the season on clay will be in Estoril (Portugal), which starts the week of April 12 and where Magüi has ben the champion twice in a row.

02/04/04: The clay season is about to start. The first tournamennt is in Casablanca (Morocco), and starts next Monday. Magüi still appears as seed number 1 in the commitments list. but we don't know yet if she'll finally play this tournament. We'll have to wait to see the draw.

01/04/04: It wasn't possible :(. Magüi and Alicia have lost to Navratilova/Raymond by 6-2, 3-6 and 6-4. Anyway, an excellent performance of Magüi and Alicia in this match and in doubles at this tournament against really tough rivals.

31/03/04: Magüi and Alicia in quarterfinals!. Magüi and Alicia have qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating  Farina/Schiavone by 6-2 and 6-4. CONGRATULATIONS!!. In quarterfinals they'll play Navratilova/Raymond, seeds number four of the tournament. They'll play tomorrow Thursday in the second turn on Court 1 (the first match starts at 12 h, local time). GOOD LUCK!!.

30/03/04: Great win in doubles!. Magüi and Alicia have got an excellent win in doubles against Black/Stubbs, a great doubles team and seeds number 5 of the tournament,  by 2-6, 7-6 (8-6) and 6-3. Their rivals tomorrow in the second round will be the Italians Farina/Schiavone on court Grandstand from 11 h, local time. GOOD LUCK!!.

30/03/04: Magüi and Alicia couldn't play yesterday their doubles match due to the big delay because of the rain, so they'll play today on court 2 from 11 h, local time. GOOD LUCK!!.

29/03/04: There has been no luck at all. Magüi has lost to Paola Suárez by 6-4 and 6-2. The first set has been close, with only a break, but in the second set Paola has been ahead from the beginning and there has been no time to react. Tonight Magüi and Alicia play their first round in doubles. It's the fifth match on Court 1. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

28/03/04: Magüi plays today in he third match of Court 6 (the first match of the court starts at11  h, local time) the seed number 9 of the tournament, the Argentinian Paola Suárez. It'll be tough, but let's hope that Magüi has a good day. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

26/03/04: What a match!. Magüi has been able to defeat Jamea Jackson in a match much tougher than expected that lasted almost three hours by 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) and 6-2, in which she has saved some match points, but fortunately she has reacted and has got a win that we expect gives her a lot of moral for next matches. Her next rival will be the winner of the match between Paola Suárez and Denisa Chladkova, who play tonight. The third-round match will be played on Sunday. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

26/03/04: Magüi will play today Jamea Jackson in the first round in Miami from 10 h, local time, if rain allows it. Let's hope that she can win. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

24/03/04: Magüi's rival in the first round of Miami will finally be the American Jamea Jackson. This match will be played on Friday or Saturday.

24/03/04: Miami's doubles draw has been released. Magüi and Alicia will play Black/Stubbs, seeds number 5, in the first round. GOOD LUCK!!.

22/03/04: Miami's daw has been released. Magüi is the seed number 18, has a BYE in the first round and will play in the second round the winner of the match between the Swiss Myriam Casanova and the American Jamea Jackson . GOOD LUCK!!.

18/03/04: This is Magüi's schedule for April and May, after next week in MiamiCasablanca (Morocco) (it's not sure yet that Magüi will play there), Estoril (where she defends title), Warsaw (this means that she won't go to Budapest to defend her title, because that tournament is played the same week), Berlin, Rome, Vienna (tournament that replaces the tournament in Madrid) and Roland Garros. The first tie of the Fed Cup between Spain and Switzerland will also be played at the end of April, and we hope that Magüi is there to play for the Spanish team. All the mentioned tournaments are played on clay. We hope that Magüi has good results during the next months.

17/03/04: Next Wednesday starts the tournament in Miami, next tournament where Magüi will play. Magüi will be one of the 32 seeds, so she'll have a BYE in the first round and won't play till Friday or Saturday. The time difference between Miami and Spain is -6 hours. Magüi is having a slump in the last weeks, but let's hope that she recovers her confidence as soon as possible and she can get great results. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

17/03/04: Magüi and Alicia haven't been able to play their doubles match due to Alicia's injury, so they are out of the tournament. A shame, because Magüi has been waiting some days to play this match and finally she hasn't been able to play.

16/03/04: Magüi and Alicia play today Petrova/Shaughnessy, seeds number 7. It's the fourth match on Court 4 (the first match starts at 10 h, local time). Good luck!!.

14/03/04: The Pacific Life Open paid tribute to those affected by the recent bombings in Madrid with a special ceremony on centre court Saturday. Several Spanish ATP (Albert Costa, Rafael Nadal and David Sánchez, as well as Andre Agassi, who had just beaten Sánchez) and WTA Tour players (Magüi Serna, Gala León García, Marta Marrero, María Sánchez Lorenzo, Conchita Martínez, Arantxa Parra and Anabel Medina Garrigues), joined tournament director Charlie Pasarell and other officials for the tribute. Ballkids held Spanish and American flags as the national anthems of both nations were played. Serna spoke on behalf of the players, thanking the fans for their support and prayers.

13/03/04: Bad news. Although Magüi was serving for the match in the third set, she has ended losing by 6-4, 2-6 and 7-5. Let's hope that Magüi starts getting good results soon. ¡¡VAMOS!!. Magüi won't play doubles till Tuesday.

13/03/04: Magüi plays today the Bulgarian Karatancheva on Court 5 from 10 h, local time. GOOD LUCK!!.

12/03/04: The Spanish players will go to the court with black ribbons due to the sorrow for the terrorist attacks in Madrid. That's what Magüi comments about these attacks: "I was paralyzed. It was sick, sick, sick. They are not human. It's so hard to watch because there seems to be more wounded every hour."

12/03/04: Magüi and Alicia won in a really tough match by 6-7 (7-9), 6-2 and 7-6 (7-2). Their next rivals will be the seeds number 7, Petrova/Shaughnessy. Magüi doesn't play today.

11/03/04: SAD DAY FOR SPAIN. From Magüi Serna's web we want to show our total condemnation against the terrible terrorist attacks happened today in the city of Madrid and also our solidarity with all the victims and their families.

11/03/04: Magüi will finally play the very young Bulgarian of only 14 years old Sesil Karatancheva in the first round at Indian Wells. Magüi and Molik will play tonight against Dulko/Grande.

10/03/04: The Indian Wells' doubles draw has been released. Magüi and Alicia Molik will play Gisela Dulko/Rita Grande in the first round.

09/03/04: Bad news for the Spanish women's tennis, because it's now confirmed that the Spanish Tennis Federation has sold the WTA tournament in Madrid, only WTA tournament played in Spain, to the WTA, so the Spanish women's tennis loses its most important tournament. That means a big disappointment to all the Spanish fans that want to have the chance of attending a women's tournament 'live' by a 'decent' price.

09/03/04: The Indian Wells' draw has already been released. Magüi is the seed number 17, has a BYE in the first round and will play in the second round the winner of the match between the American Alexandra Stevenson and the Bulgarian wild card Sesil Karatancheva. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

04/03/04: Next Wednesday starts the tournament in Indian Wells, one of the most important tournaments on hard court. Magüi will be one of the 32 seeds, so, as usual in this tournament, she'll have a BYE in the first round and will start directly in the second round. Let's hope that she does well. ¡¡VAMOS!!. BTW, the time difference between Indian Wells and Spain is -9 hours.

02/03/04: These are, in principle, the two tournaments that Magüi will play during March: Indian Wells and Miami. Let's hope that she does well. ¡¡VAMOS!!.

02/03/04: Bad news. Magüi and Alicia have lost to Li/Sun by 7-5, 3-6 and 6-4, so the tournament is over for Magüi.

01/03/04: Magüi hasn't been able to celebrate her birthday with a win and has lost to Testud by 6-3 and 6-2. Well, anyway, let's hope that she has a nice day and that she is luckier in doubles. ¡VAMOS!. Later we'll add a pic of this match. Magüi will play tomorrow afternoon in doubles.

01/03/04: Today is Magüi's 25th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!. Let's hope that she has great day and can celebrate her birthday with a win. Good luck for the next tournaments!!.

29/02/04: Magüi will play tomorrow the French Sandrine Testud at 17.30 h, local time, on the Centre Court. Let's hope that she can celebrate her birthday with a win. GOOD LUCK!!.

28/02/04: Magüi is the seed number 8 in Doha and will play the French Wild Card Sandrine Testud in the first round. In doubles, Magüi and Molik will play the Chineses Li/Sun in the first round. GOOD LUCK!!.

27/02/04: Next Monday starts the tournament in Doha (Qatar), on hardcourts, next Magüi's tournament, in which she'll play the doubles again with Molik. ¡Good luck!. The time difference between Qatar and Spain is +2 hours.

25/02/04: Bad news,  Magüi has lost to Myskina by 6-1 and 6-4. And also defeat in doubles against Mandula/Schett by 7/6 (4), 3/6, 6/1.
