Mahaabhaarat
| | Preface The two great epics of Hindu religion - Raamaayan and Mahaabhaarat, contain hundreds of names and their stories, but many a time some other information is also available at other places about them. It is very difficult for a person to assimilate all information about one character at one place. The objective of this document is to present all possible information about one character scattered at several places at one place to facilitate the reader to find everything about him or her at one place. I earnestly hope that this source will provide useful and rare information to our readers. Any ideas are most welcome about this source to enhance its usefulness and usability. About This Source 1. Its sources for names are Tulasee's Raam Charit Maanas, Vaalmeeki Raamaayan, Mahaabhaarat, and Shree Mad Bhaagvat Puraan and sometimes other Puraan also. 2. This work uses mainly two Raamaayan - Vaalmeeki Raamaayan and Tulasee's Raam Charit Maanas, Shree Mad-Bhaagvat and Mahaabhaarat. Wherever possible references are made to clear the place from where that particular information has been taken. Vaalmeeki Raamaayan has been referred as "Raamaayan" and Tulasee's Raamaayan has been referred to as "Maanas". 3. Two indexes are given here, one arranged alphabetically and another arranged subject vise. The subject vise index has been divided under five headings: (1) Devtaa, (2) Rishi, (3) People, (4) Raakshas, and (5) Others. "Others" covers such peoples which cannot be categorized under the other four categories, such as Vaanar, rivers, birds etc. One index has also been added to these indexes. This index lists very uncommon names with a very brief description. This index is arranged alphabetically. 4. Most entries are given on individual pages, but there are some names which do not have much details. They are given on two pages: A-M and N-Z pages. But all names, except of "Uncommon Names" can be accessed by the two indexes. 5. Most entries are cross-referenced. 6. If a name appearing in an entry, has a seperate entry on the same page, it appears in bold in that entry, so one can read about that name on the same page given elsewhere. Of course all names are arranged alphabetically. 6. Normally the whole text uses only one color but sometimes some comments are also provided. For them a different color has been used on that page, thus it has not been taken from anywhere. Normally that is under the heading "My Note". 7. There are some incidents which do not fall under any specific category but they are mentioned in the text. They are given under "Incidents" and are referenced in text. Sincerely, Contact
