Princess Elizibub has arisen to conquer Earth with her army of mutant monsters. Rayma(Danny Lee) volunteers and the Professor transforms him into Inframan. Inframan battle monsters with his powers of Lethal Kicks, Thunder Fists, and his Sun Ja move. When Princess Elizibub kidnaps the Professor's daughter can Inframan save her and the world?
The Shaw Bros entry into the superhero-fighting-rubber-suited-monsters genre. I like it, it was lots of fun. The cheesy sets, cheesy costumes, the cheesy effects and fighting all add up to one fun movie. Super Inframan definitately borrows a page or two from the Japanese tokusatsu movies, but it's not a rip off. It holds up on it's own with it's bionic superhero, mutant monsters and action packed kung fu action. The Inframan transformation is cool and showcases and abnormal about of flipping. He's flipping out! The monsters do look a bit cheesy, but are cool and all of their fghts are my favorites, especially when the Bug Monster and Inframan grow to giant size and do battle.
Superman Inframan is an early role for Bruce Le from back when he worked at Shaw Brothers. I thought he might get a small background part, but he has a larger role and is featured in a few scenes, has dialogue, and gets into a couple fights, one with the Bug Monster. Bruce plays Xiao Lung and I read on another site that Xiao Lung(Long) translates to Bruce Lee's real life nickname, "Little Dragon" in Mandarin. It was nice seeing Bruce Le in a contemporary setting and not invovled in some kung fu shenanigans trying to protect a name list or something.
Another Bruceploitation star, Dana, makes an appearance in Super Inframan. She plays the evil Witch Eye who happens to have an eye in her palm. Dana has been in the Bruce Li films Edge of Fury, Dynamo, Image of Bruce Lee, and Bruce Li in New Guinea. Although, she was only given a nude credit in Image of Bruce Lee and Bruce Li in New Guinea. Personally, I believe those two films are her best work.
If you're a fan of Bruce Le, then I'd say watch this one to see him a different type of role. If you're a fan of superhero & monsters flicks then watch this because as I said it's a lot fun, enjoyable camp from start to finish. He's flipping out!
