Prepare for the meeting...

Before contacting Marilyn, please think about how to describe what you like. Do you have a style preference for your home? Which colors do you love and which colors do you dislike: soft earth tones, engergizing bright colors? A combination? What kind of textures do you like, smooth, rough and chunky? Both? What mood do you want the room to evoke?

Collect m agazine cut outs that indicate fabric and paint swatches you like, collect anything - bark, photographs, ribbon- anything that sparks you colorwise and stylewise. Sometimes you may not yet know what you want, but have an idea about a feeling you'd like to convey. How would you describe it? If you have a designer you prefer to work with, be sure and invite him or her to the initial meeting.

Initial meeting...

Our first meeting will be a review of your home and my portfolio. During this time we will discuss your tastes and the possibilities. Photographs from web sites, books and magazines are great communication tools

that indicate styles, colors, and concepts. By viewing your home, the portfolio and photos together, we will both learn about each other - you will get a sense of my work style and I will learn about your home and what's important to you. Measurements will be taken at this time.

Commisioning a sample...

After we arrive at a direction in colors, texture, layout, etc., sample boards and/or mural sketches are commissioned at $150 each, and are to be prepaid. When the samples are completed, a meeting will be scheduled for review along with the estimate and contract.

Approval and scheduling...

After approving the samples and contract, we require a 30-50% deposit. Once the check is received your start date will be reserved and the job will be scheduled.

Pricing...

Each project is priced individually and is based on any combination of: square footage, linear footage, wall/surface condition, surface obstacles, wall height, scaffolding, ceiling work, supplies, travel expenses, uniqueness, detail of work, sophistication of finish, skill level required, and time estimates.
