I don't know why you are reading this.  You may be worried that I am closing the site.  You may be thinking I'm about to move.  Well, do not worry.  I have no intentions of closing this site.  Yet the future of the Realm looks grim.  You see, we are about to enter our darkest hour.  Quite frankly, this site will probably be at about 5 hits/day by the end of December.  This is not good.  Seriously.

The main problem is simple.  Majora's Mask comes out two days from today.  I do not have a TV in my dorm.  Furthermore, my reserved copy is four hours away.  I won't get to play the game until the end of November.  Then I will be forced to leave the game until the end of December.  Thus, I will not have any real information on the game until around the beginning of December.  In the true spirit of Nintendo, I will be coming in last.  Meanwhile, thousands more visitors will come, looking for Majora info.  Seeing none here, they will think the site is pathetic and never come back.  Even when the Majora craze has died down, these visitors will not remember this strange little site.

I have also been looking at my stats.  I see a lot of people coming in through the webring.  I thought, great!, maybe I should join more.  So I did.  Yet none have written me back.  There appears to be a lack of webrings that are still alive and active that are actually popular.  Not good.  There are a couple I haven't tried, but I think I will.  I also think I'm going to have to (hangs his head in shame at this) join some top site lists.  I hate the competitiveness, I hate the people with pop up "Vote for me" signs.  I hate people who vote for themselves 800 times.  But I need more hits, so I need to do this.  Unfortunately, the same problem persists.  I will not advertise these topsites, which is ok.  But this is still on Majora's Eve, and so no one will vote for a non Majora site.  Bad news.

But if I do have loyal fans, do not worry.  I am not abandoning this site, even if my hits go down to zero.  The quality of this site will not be affected by the number of hits.  Although I do like hits, it is not the driving force of this site's existence.  I hope I did not make it appear as if this is a "woe is me" editorial, because it isn't.  I'm merely stating that these will be trying times for the Realm.  Hopefully, though, some people will stick to the site even while Majora wrecks havoc on others opinions of this site.  And for those few people, I have planned a few new and exciting things for you.

First of all, I'm finally getting a new poll.  It's about time.  Also, the old poll will still be around in a new section.  The poll on the front page will always be Zelda related and unique.  The "other polls" section will include more common poll questions, questions on the site, and past polls.  So more voting to do.

Next will be a feature designed to improve the idea of an online community.  I will be reviewing other Zelda sites.  I'll try to be fair, and I'll try to say some good things about them.  You can submit your site for a review if you are a webmaster, and you can request no review if you want.  Right now, I'll be focusing on large sites, but I hope to include a lot.

Does anybody remember the Earth/Sky Chapters???  You know, the new GBC Zelda games?  No web site cares about these games any more.  Thus, whereas this site will be lacking in Majora info, it will more than make up for it in GBC Zelda.  I hope to create a better preview of the games than IGN.  Gotta stand out somewhere.

I'm thinking of adding to the affiliate section with affiliate news.  If any site does something particularly impressive, I'll put it there.  Thus, improving the overall appearance of an Online Community.  I'm not greedy; I want these other small sites to get hits too.  Seeing as this would be beneficial to the ZOC as a whole, I'm hoping the idea picks up.

I'll add a section to each game entitled fan reviews.  You can review the games (duh).

I'm getting rid of the mailbag.  No submissions kind of hurts.  O well.  I did expect that.

What about the distant future?  Right now, I'm fairly happy with Geocities.  But that won't last forever.  I want the Realm to expand.  Who knows, this may be the next HTLOZ (err, bad example.  If I ever become as arrogant and flashy as HTLOZ, someone shoot me).  But the time is not yet ready.  I need to build a fan base.  I'm making a lot of progress in my html ability, but I need to know more.  And I'm not ready to deal with advertising, etc, that would happen if I try to make the big time.  But it may happen eventually.  Some time, maybe early next year, we may bounce back from the Majora devastation.  And become popular.  We may then start looking around for hosting oppurtunities.  But not yet.

I am going to need some fan help.  Since I realize that writing emails and even using the form is tedious, I'm not asking every fan to write to me.  But if some of you want to tell me what you think about this site, I'd appreciate it.  And please sign the guestbook.  I know that sounds stupid, but I changed it to include what you like/dislike.  I don't care about the guestbook in general, but I do want suggestions.  I want to improve this site.  And if anybody wants to send in anything, including editorials, reviews, etc., I'd love that.  And challenges too.  I've gotten some positive feedback, but I would think that that would be one of the high points of the site.  But there's nothing I can do (quick, who said that?  Malon of course.)

Well, there you go.  I gave my State of the Site address.  Not bad, eh?  Be prepared to see RBS ver 1.2 Wednesday.  Pretty much the same, but I have to rework it.

Disclaimer: I love writing these.  I do not insinuate that the Constitution of the United States applies to this site.  It just happened to work so well.  And I reserve the right to look at you in a disgusted way if you are an American citizen and did not know that that quote was from the Constitution.  Shame on you.    And this is not a woe is me article.  I am not depressed.  We shall meet this challenge and suceed.
