The sequel to The Legend of Zelda is generally considered the worst of the Zelda games.  However, I believe it is simply misunderstood.  There is nothing wrong with it if you simply do not compare it to the other Zelda games.  If anything, it should simply be considered the most different.  The game is more like a Final Fantasy type role playing game than any other Zelda game.  There is an overhead map which switches to a battle screen if you touch an enemy.  There are experience points which increase your levels.  Not particularly like the first one, is it?

However, it still retains the magic of a Zelda game.  True, there was no boomerang, but we'll survive.  The music was, as always, great.  The graphics were pretty good, too.  At least this time Link was two blocks tall, so we could get a better picture of what he looked like.  And the gameplay was great, too.  There were some great sword fights with ironknuckles and other enemies.  And, of course, there were secrets and puzzles like any other Zelda game.  Decent graphics, decent music, good gameplay, definitely a good game for any Zeda fan.

In terms of the Zeda franchise, this game included many details which would live on as integral parts of Zelda.  The most important of these are, of course, the Triforce of Courage and the Triforce symbol.  Also, one should note that Link's shadow was the precursor of Dark Link (did anyone else notice that they react the same way when hit?), and the town names are named after the sages and Mido.  Magic is first introduced here.

All in all, this is certainly a great game.  It may not live up to the standards of its predecessor, but do not hold it against this awesome game.  It has a great story, interesting characters, and an impressive geography.  Also, it is very challenging and can be frustrating at times.  But do not give up!  The reward, the Triforce, is well worth it.
