Mark Dixon Update, 2001: "Year of Imperial Delights"
Hello everybody, and welcome to my latest update! I spent most of the last year in Japan, and as you might imagine, found my way into lots of story-worthy adventures. It was a fun, challenging year, filled with international business adventures, fine dining, fancy hotels, premier wines, great community, and wonderful reunions. Then, Calico (the company that sent me to Japan) decided to lay me off, send me home, and go bankrupt. (!!) After a brief and unsuccessful attempt at finding a different job in Japan, I decided to return to the U.S., jobless, homeless, and wondering what would happen next. Fortunately, I was not friend-less... To all the friends and relatives who housed me during my post-job wanderings: THANK YOU!! To all the friends and relatives who continue to house me in my post job wanderings; THANK YOU, TOO!! When I finally land in a new job and residence, you are more than welcome to visit and partake in the wonderful things we have come to regard as roof, walls, and showers! ;-)
So, after some amazing ups and downs, 7 countries, 1200 digital photographs, 200,000 airline miles, and a slew of tax questions, I can finally declare the year 2001 closed, and ready to be re-told to you all in, uh... excessive detail.
In the interest of mercy upon the reader, however, I have decided to use only 5% of the photos, 10% of the stories, and NONE of the miles to communicate the events of the past year of "Imperial Delights."
