Well, that's the last time I go on holiday. When I left, all was quiet at the Bridge - no transfers, no activity, no publicity, nothing apart from rumours of the financial position at the Club. As soon as I go away, all hell breaks loose. What a masterstroke by Ken Bates to find Roman Abramovich at a time when no one wants to invest in football. Chelsea now have another chance to achieve the dream that we all thought we might do 3-4 years ago. In honour of this takeover, I've made up lists of what might change, what should not change, and (knowing our luck!) what probably wont change. Some of my points are serious, some humorous - you can make your mind up which is which!)
What Might Change
In future, we should sing the Red Flag instead of the Blue flag.
Managers and players wont be sacked in future, they will get a pick-axe through their head instead.
The team will walk out to the tannoy playing "Song of the Volga boatmen".
All female employees will look like brick shithouses.
The under soil heating wont be switched on until there's at least 10 feet of snow!
What Should not Change
Having got us into the Champions Cup without having money to spend, Claudio Ranieri should get the chance to show what he can do.
No more crap signing of players looking for one last payday (eg Bogarde, Weah, Deschamps). Let's not go back to those days.
Continue to focus on building a team for the longer term.
What probably wont change
We will still lose to crap sides that we should stuff.
The media still wont like us.
We still wont beat Arsenal.
We still wont lose to Tottenham.
We still wont let Fulham share our ground (much though Al Fayed would like our sandy pitch!).
Ken Bates will still rant in the matchday programme.
Roll on next season!!
