  Doc Goes to the Movies

(And the Winner is......)

I recently purchased a DVD player.  I'm a little slow upgrading technology.  I'm not really big into spending my time watching TVs and movies, but it is nice to sit down and pick a decent movie to watch once in a while.  And, certainly, digital video is of significantly higher quality that a videotape.  Better sound, better picture.

Now, I'll have to build my DVD collection.  I've decided to build a library of some of the best movies of all time.  Movies that have won awards.  Movies that display the finest in acting, directing, writing, etc.  Movies that have set the standard in quality entertainment.  Movies such as Citizen Kane, Casablanca, The Shawshank Redemption, Dumb and Dumber........

And music videos.

I love music.  Good, quality music.  Like Weird Al.  And his videos are the BEST.  Such genius.  Such originality.  Such subtle humor.

Ah, DVDs are a wonderful thing, aren't they?

That "Crouching Tiger" movie . . . . . .  I didn't get it.  It won all these awards because it was such a GREAT movie.  The critics loved it.  I'm sorry.  I thought the effects were "Cheesy" and the story line (what little story line there was) was pathetic.   A good rule of thumb is this:  If the critics love the movie, it's probably garbage;  If the critics hate the movie, it may be worth watching.
